Feeling better, back to comicking.
Also, FAN ART! A Deviant Artist by the name of Rosewood Coin sent me this drawing featuring Selkie, alongside Modest from Modest Medusa and Grex from Star Power, hanging out.
Thank you, Rosewood!
"The things I do for love."
PLEASE tell me it was her allowance she used, not her dad’s money.
I sure hope so, *nice* bouquets are expensive as heck. Not to mention the delivery fees!
That fan art is really cool.
Oh hey, the Modest Medusa author himself. Pleasure to meet you.
“You’re eight. No one is in love here.”
Okay, so children can’t have crushes because they’re too young? Kinda ridiculous notion there. :\ Haven’t we all experienced puppy love at some point?
That aside, how the heck is Selkie going to explain this one to her dad? I can imagine him being mad for using her money; I’m hoping her only punishment is having to forfeit her allowance to pay the money back alongside being grounded.
*his money
Children CAN have crushes, but it’s a variant on why babies get so much slack: Everything is new, meaning each negative thing has a good chance of being the LITERAL WORST THING I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED for the first couple years.
In this case, a minor crush feels like Twu Wuv, as you have no basis for comparison.
Oh my God the fanart is so good
Crushes are not love that’s the point she’s making.
Listen, adults don’t get to have a lot of fun, and one of the few perks we DO get is to tell kids all kinds of demeaning shit that they can’t contradict because of their relative lack of knowledge and power.
Now, if you aren’t allowed to psychologically torment children and teens by telling them that their feelings are invalid because they’re so insignificant in scope compared to what an older person would be feeling, well, what even IS the benefit to growing up?
When I was eight, I was in love with Velma Dinkley.
Who am I kidding, “was”?
I see you are a fellow person of culture.
Dot dot dot? Ah, “S” for “sophisticate”, of course.
Hello, 10cc?
TOTBC: I was thinking of The Beegees: “All I Need Is the Air That I Breath.”
I see your 10CCs, and raise you a ZZTop. Which 10CCs song did you have in mind?
“The Things We Do For Love”.
Oh, and I’m sorry, but “The Air That I Breathe” was recorded by the Hollies.
That. Both those things.
I think the song was “I’m Not In Love”
There IS such a song, but I was thinking this one:

Fourth panel: Watch those unintentional tangents! Her nose is touching the panel border and her head is touching the word balloon. When you end up with cases like this, make sure they overlap enough that it doesn’t look like the lines are connected.
I do love the gal’s face in the fourth panel, though ^_^
1. Well there you go Selkie, now everyone thinks your lesbian, or bi.
2. Seriously Dave, did the new principal have the guts to expel Tom?
3. Wow what a coincidence, I also happen to read Modest Medusa, although I’ve never heard of star power.
If Selkie stole something out of another kid’s locker, or one of the teachers’ purses, then the principal has authority to punish her.
If Selkie shoplifted at a store in the mall, it’s none of the principal’s business.
And if Selkie stole her father’s credit card, it STILL none of the principal’s business. It didn’t happen at school, so she has no authority.
Alpo: yes, I agree with you.
But I think that there is an undisclosed (but hinted at layer) happening here.
IIRC- Trunchie-Poo had all kinds of information about Sarnothi culture, before Todd even knew what Selkie was. Although Pricipal Hobbit didnt know his butt from a grilled cheese sandwich, there have been hints that This Principal is very far up on the information chain in knowing about the Sarnothi integration. She still has no right, but as one concerned citizen to another(Todd) she may feel to step in.
Except, if they believe Selkie stole her dad’s credit card the school should still call and tell said dad. A dad which would be likely to punish her. Which I’m pretty sure is what they’re implying
Right, dad needs to be told but they have no grounds to punish her.
They aren’t though, unless you count calling Tod as punishment.
“I fought for love” is nicely ambiguous; nobody else knows that she actually means George and Te Fahn. Angela’s response is (probably accidentally) consistent with both interpretations, too.
This right here is why miocrotransactions in video games need to be rated adults only.
It’s just too easy for kids to spend money online without their parents’ knowledge.
i wonder, is poor te fahn supressing laughter, or dying of embarassment here?
Yes.
I think Te Fahn is embarrassed. She was frowning in concern and/or sympathy last page, I don’t think she would switch to derision in one page, plus it doesn’t strike me as consistent with her character so far. She doesn’t seem like the sort of kid who would enjoy another kids embarrassment, and she can tell that the laughter is all about something being embarrassing. Whether she’s embarrassed on Selkie’s behalf or feels like Selkie is punishing her remains to be seen.
Aww I’m glad you liked my art,
I had never heard of Star Power before seeing that fanart. Now I’m waiting for new updates…
God would do well to help her farther already. Just saying…
