And here is the 4th round of head tests. I want to thank everyone for their feedback regarding the first three rounds. When I am considering multiple solutions to a problem I like getting outside opinions, so thank you for[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…

Everyone, I’m sorry for the black and white comic. I have a paper due tomorrow plus I had a chance to have dinner with some friends from out of town I haven’t seen outside Facebook for almost a year, so[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I wasn’t originally going to reveal Selkie’s “true” name this early, but I’ve bumped it up because the original reveal point no longer makes sense due to some rewrites, and having her mother dodge around saying her name while saying[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Plo Quar's name comes from a story I wrote back when I was 12 about two twin monsters, Fing Mar who had scorpion tails and created smog and storms, and Plo Quar who had caterpillar legs and created rain and breezes. I drew them both on notebook paper and cut them out and made them fight when I should have been paying attention to history. In Selkie canon, Plo Quar has a twin sister named Fing Mar who I have yet to include as anything more than a piece of background information.
Third round of test heads. 12-14 were made using a more textured paint-y brush instead of the smooth standard brush at the current pixel size I use now (10pt). Not enough detail at this size to really tell, I don’t[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…

Another style-sheet sketch day this Saturday. I’ll try not to use any thin-lines this time. XD -EDIT- A question about if Selkie was speaking english or her native language gave me an idea to add a Note from the Editor[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
The last two sketch-updates gave me some color ideas that, while I don't think work for the comic in general, fit well in a memory/flashback context. So, orangey-bluey shadows. XD
I wanted to fit a Harry Potter penseive joke in here but it was really really awkward. XD
I try to minimize the overt pop-culture references because the in-comic time moves a LOT slower than real-time. I started the comic in 2010, which means right now it is still loosely set in 2010. I mention this because Kenny is in for a sad sad day at the next Super Bowl.
Sorry this Head Test is smaller than the last batch. I didn’t have as much extra time as I anticipated due to some last-minute stuff. I think I’ve decided on the thin lines for when this arc is over, mostly[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…

Expect another style-sheet Sketch Day this Saturday. I have a few more things I want to play with, although I’ve decided not to muck with the art style in live strips until this particular arc is over, for consistency’s sake.
Tony and Moonsong have surnames which they retain from being given up by their parents post-infancy; Tony Mollier and Moonsong Starfall. (Moonsong hates his surname)
I wanna thank everyone who commented on the style sheet I posted over the weekend. I have a few more “playing around” ideas I wanna try before I start taking style changes live, but so far I really like the[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
There is a part of me that distresses over Heather's use of the term "real kids", but I also feel "biological kids" is a bit of a mouthful for her, and I don't feel her thought process would phrase it that way.
The comments for Monday’s comic yielded an interesting conversation about the comic’s art style. I thought I’d try a few variations and see if maybe I like something. #1 is done in the usual style, the others all have either[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
