In some variations of the selkie story, the selkie continues to visit her children secretly in seal form, or even visits the fisherman husband as a seal to stare sadly at him. This portrayal is one of the versions where she flees outright the moment she has the opportunity.
As of the time I post this, unless there is a last minute upset after counting the Hero Inititive extra votes, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal has won out over Selkie in March Madness. Thank you, everyone, for your votes and[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I'd censor the beach scene but it's so non-detailed I barely see a point.
Occurs to me that I should probably do more backlinks for this stuff. “You all lied about us and faked sick and stuff!” “She kicked me!” – – – – – Also, a fanart update! Danielle C sent me a[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Was gonna have Mike mention the bit about Truck to Tony, but decied to shift that dialogue to Giselle because the last page was already wordy enough. Original dialogue on this page was mostly just more taunting back-and-forth.
ComicMix is doing their Webcomic March Madness contest again this year. If so willing, please vote for Selkie. 😀
Never really found an organic spot to fit this in during the snowball fight arc and it still feels a bit forced here, but I wanted to just touch base on how Tony knows all these kids well enough that they'll come running to a crew call: -Mike Rob Gideon and "Tommy the Truck" are friends from a community football league run through the school (He also has Rob Mike and Gideon as classmates). -Giselle is friends with Rob through their mothers (https://selkiecomic.com/comic/selkie352/), and friends with Tony and Mike through him. Also a classmate. -Lynni is Gideon's fraternal twin sister. She's in class with Sandy and Wu. Knows the rest through her brother.
Flats for now, shading in a bit. Got myself sidetracked looking into merch store options. Set up a couple placeholder/demo items on Cafepress, Society6 and Zazzle; still making a decision on who to use. -SHADING DONE-
I was originally going to put a little "editors note" narrator-box mentioning that Lynni is in a different class from the rest of the kids, only to remember that Wu and Sandy are ALSO not in Selkie George and Giselle's class. So, blam, Lynni's with them. So is Ricky because why not.
I like the look of panels 1 and 6 with the character layers turned off. Also, bit of an announcement. I think I am long past due for a reader meet-and-greet opportunity, and I’d like to arrange it with a[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
May have slightly overdone it on the emotive reaction panels. Maybe.
I read some webcomics drama on Twitter while finishing up the strip that I’d rather not link to because I don’t want to give it traffic, but it has motivated me to say that I love and appreciate the support[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
Amanda's got a temper and, occasionally, a potty mouth.
Heather’s still (justifiably) mad. – – – – – I want to take a moment here to direct you all to a few things. Firstly, my friend Kathleen Jacques who does the so-much-freaking-fun comic Band vs Band has set up[…]↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I've filmed college games from the sidelines where soccer players took one hundred mile per hour flying balls right into their gut, shook it off and started running back down the field to help score a goal. Soccer players are a lot tougher than me.
