Either a war criminal or an incredible hero. Either way, Selkie may get a lot of fame/notoriety that she finds she doesn’t care much for. And a whole lot of expectation that she will “help” them, whatever that particular Sarnothi’s definition of “help” is.
Actually you know what I want? I want gossip to come to a misunderstand as it always does, so that it gets spread to everyone that TOM had Selkie WITH Plo Quar.
So then all the new sarthoni think Selki’s a half-sarthoni, living with her dad. And her sister, who’s the same age – so I guess they’re like fraternal twins and the sister just turned out to be human instead.
Who knew human genetics could would work like that? Weird huh?
That would be a fairly interesting way to “cover” Amanda’s powers — like, the Sarnothi get wind of Amanda having powers, but they’ve already got the idea that Todd has one half-Sarnothi kid, so obviously the second one is half-Sarnothi too, just took after the dad instead, that’s how she managed to get powers etc. etc.
Takes a bit for the full revelation to come out, and even longer for it to be BELIEVED 😈
Although, if he actually thought that Selkie might be a hybrid with Todd as biological father, then he was asking himself the wrong question, since the egg-laying would be done by the mother. What he should have said was “Can humans fertilize Sarnothi eggs”.
(And in case anyone has forgotten, Avery already said it’s not possible. Yay, Dave is being scientifically more correct than Star Trek, on that topic.)
Oh. Oh no.
I think the first word balloon in the first box is supposed to be going to Todd?
It’s fun to see more interactions with more Sarnothi. 🙂
I think a meat jelly is gelatine, not fruit juice treated with the water-soluble fiber called pectin.
Hmm, might even have bits of meat in it too!
Welcome to the world of meat jello dishes.
Oh, please don’t let this be the beginning of how Selkie finds out about the truly negative side of Sarnothi culture. 🙁
Or (hopefully) the Sarnothi in Exile don’t consider her mother a war criminal.

Or they’re just going “holy wowza, she’s probably a really powerful Echo”.
Oh. Yes, possibly. Hopefully that’s all it is.
Selkie’s mother’s family name is “My Dog” in french?
Early on, I wondered if Plo’Quar was an anagram for the name of Dave’s dog and he was just being clever. 🙂
What’s Dave’s dog’s name?
Exact opposite, haha
Uuuuh heck. Not intentionally, no. 😡

It would be hilarious.

Also, Todd trying to explain to Andi that no, despite the rumors, he has *not* gotten freaky with the fish-people
…and then possibly winding up in a relationship with one later on 😂
Hmmm… I guess if Mr. Stronk’s ignorance about human males and egg-laying is typical, the rumour might have wings!

Agreed. A chimera perhaps?
BTW I’ve a high tolerance for bad science– I’m a Space 1999 fan. The series that made physics a cargo cult!
