Never underestimate spite.
EDIT 7/29:
Due to some freelance work knocking on my door, today’s Selkie will be delayed. Next comic on Monday, with a new story arc.
Reminder that we are approaching May 25th in the in-universe timeline.
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
“I’m not supposed to be here because I’m not in trouble? No problem, I’ll just disobey orders by staying here until I’m in trouble, and then I’ll have a reason to stay here.”
“Okay, your punishment for being in the detention room without being on detention will be to stay in the detention room. When you stop being in the detention room without being on detention, then you can leave.”
Rumour has it she is still there to this day
Oof, using his name as an insult? Low blow… except they were just exchanging literal blows, so I guess that tracks…
He called her something way worse in the last page so I have less than zero sympathy for him. He deserves worse.
Little harsh. You okay?
No, harsh is the word Tehk used. Harsh is the way Tehk has treated Amanda (and Selkie). If having his name used as an insult is the worst punishment he gets Tehk is getting off easy. Bullying like he is doing is not ok.
right but remember cannonically he’s a 9 year old refugee kid with dead parents. cut the kid a break.
also the word he used is not that harsh imo. could have been way worse
I’d say it’s more just “his personality” now…. We know you’re MO is to act THIS KINDA WAY, so stop acting like -Tehk-
He’s been that way to everyone, since the very beginning, that’s just who he is, and it looks like he’s starting to realize it.
I’ve had my name be used in a similar way…. I have very unique personality, and people will point stuff out to me and say “this is very Trina”
That’s kinda like “Danny” in “Dumbing of Age,” whenever he messes up, the comments go; “Well he really Danned up there, didn’t he?”
She’s technically there to support her sister, but the teacher just gave her a better reason.
Shh, they don’t realise they’ve reached that stage of bonding yet and we want them to emesh further before anyone tells then 😛
Selkie is both a natural-born rebel and an inveterate contrarian.
She would certainly disagree with that remark!
… were orphans not a thing in Sarnoth before the war?
I suppose extended family structures, like clans, do make “orphans” very rare, in the sense that children don’t typically lose touch with all their family. Hadn’t thought of that, actually. The ancient Celts had a very interesting system of fostering in that respect.
Spite is the trump card of the powerless. It is fear of people with nothing left to lose rising up and seeking vengeance that keeps the powerful from going too far.
I don’t remember the significance of May 25th. Start of summer vacation?
Selkie’s birthday, though off by a day?

According to Wikipedia it’s ‘Missing Children’s Day’, but I don’t think that applies to any of the kids in the comic
This should have been a reply to Solitus and the ‘significance of May 25th’.
