Bad universe, no enabling
AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Been there, Selkie! Sometimes it works, sometimes it blows up in your face.
Also, she seems to be using fewer plurals, the speech therapy is working.
I honestly don’t see the harm in telling him that Te Fahn likes him too – possibly pointing out the human hairstyling as evidence.
Agreed. i reassured a friend he wasn’t reading a girl wrong once too. (they are married now…)
Selkie’s comment in the first panel reminds me so much of the Alien Nation TV show. The “Newcomers” could not eat cooked food. And the show didn’t make a big thing about them eating raw meat, but it did about them eating meats that we would not consider edible. Marmot, groundhog, wolverine. And pieces of the animal that we would not consider edible. “You’ve got a little pancreas stuck in your teeth there George.”
Meat’s meat. 🙂
Another funny detail there is that pancreas used to be considered a huge delicacy (still is in gourmet cooking IIRC). Offal in general used to be a lot more popular just, what, 30-50 years ago and still is in many non-western cultures.
We are so rich, in the wester world, that we can send the parts that aren’t popular to the pet-food companies. (Other side of the coin is, we pump so many chemicals into the food animals that we cannot really afford to eat the liver… too toxic, so off to the pet-food cans it goes.
Has Selkie broken the 4th wall before?
I don’t see where she has broken it now. I assume you’re referring to the last panel. To me it looks like she’s thinking out loud.
Also, when people break the fourth wall, they’re talking to the audience, and other characters do not respond. Georgie did.
In the bottom panel her eyes are aimed at the viewer
It does come across as a Ferris Beuller moment.
Is Georgie shocked or mad? His words say shock (universe) but his facial expression says mad (parent stuff).
Kind of an odd reaction on ol’ Georgie’s part. Maybe it’s a callback on how he made up stuff about himself in the beginning of the comic.
So much for bugs being the one thing Selkie will never eat.
