Drama Tag’s rules are pretty simple: person sitting in the corner alone crying is “It”.
This is not my first violation of the 180-degree rule, nor is it likely to be my last. -_-

The 180 degree rule?
Nice to see I wasn’t the only thinking, “huh?”

I don’t see the dissonance…the blonde (I just brain-farted on name :-p ) ran past Giselle in Panel Two, so Giselle caught up to her on the other side by Panel Four.
I’m actually more surprised that I did know what it was.
Wow. Is this seriously what kids are like? Any explanations as to why?
Spoiled generation? Underdeveloped sense of morality? Just plain unsuccessful parenting?
There’s always a few kids who act this way, in every generation since the beginning. It’s part of humanity. If it’s not stopped in childhood one way or another, it just keeps on going right into adulthood.
Ok I’m finding myself liking heather less and less, and this is a shame since she is a genuinely nice kid. But so help me she can’t really be this stupid that she doesn’t realize what’s going on. On a side note Keisha is growing on me as a character since she seems to want everyone to just get along.
Heather is a little kid. If you spend any time around them you would realize it is easy for them to go through this. Even adults can get wrapped up in this kind of manipulation easily–and it has nothing to do with the victim’s lack of intelligence. In fact, the sociopathic manipulators often call their victims “stupid” as an excuse to dehumanize and screw them over.
See there’s the thing, when I was a kid I actively did everything in my power to avoid socializing. I always had a nose in a book and a pencil to a sketch pad. But I also need to remember that we the readers are getting an outside view to what’s happening and that can cloud my/our views. It’s similar to what people were arguing about when selkie got suspended, that if we were Todd we change schools for selkie to remove her from the situation.
It’s a common thing in a lot of fiction, you as a viewer get to see around all the corners in advance, so you are confused, when characters walk into what’s “obviously” a trap (which you know of because you saw it being set up or had a close-up of the “pressure plate” (quotes for being a generic example))
Heather strikes me as very needy of love, attention, and approval. And right now, the other kids have done nothing she’s seen to alert her something’s wrong. This may change if they get too overt with trying to make her hate Keisha. And as she’s shown to be such a nice kid, it may be impossible for her to grasp the meanness of what these kids are doing – she can’t conceive of someone doing that to her. It’s not stupidity so much as a blind spot…even an innocence. Which, sadly, at some point, is gonna be shattered.
You also have to remember that Heather was (unwittingly?) part of this kind of thing before, tagging along with Amanda. The difference is, Selkie was It. She knew Amanda could do mean things sometimes, but until she got her wake-up call when Amanda hit her, Heather didn’t realize how mean-spirited her friend could be.
These new kids, Giselle and blondie, haven’t given her that kind of wake-up call yet. Yeah, they don’t wanna play with Amanda… GOOD, because she doesn’t want to play with Amanda ANYWAY! But hopefully the wake-up call will come when they start shutting out Keisha. Which, by the way, Heather doesn’t have any reason to believe is going to happen.
Her pigtails are nuts.
At the risk of sounding like a heartless monster…
…am I the only one who thinks “Pig Tails” over there could stand to lose a few more teeth…via blunt force trauma?
wait.
wait…
Wait, WAIT. DID SHE JUST SAY SLAPPY?
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT THE HELL THE GOOSEBUMPS SERIES ARE?
