Todd has questions. Many, many questions.
Also of note, trial and error.

I love drawing the wrinkles on Lillian's face.

She really does care about Selkie. Nice to see an orpahage director not portrayed as just wanting to get the kids off her hands and be done with it.
Also, props on 350 strips so far!
Typos: “stomach”, “acetaminophen”.
I so feel for Todd, the role of loving father even if the child is adopted. Good work Todd in demanding to talk to the elusive Agent Brown. Now the horrible thing is, how did the Agent know all her info? Trial and error? Deals with her race? Hmmm questions to be answered…
Todd is such a good Daddy. <3
*applauds Todd’s behavior*
Those tiny dilated pupils and huge sclerae to go with the look of anger are possibly the most disturbing thing I have ever seen in this comic. If I were Agent Brown, I would run and scream all the way back to Washington, DC.
wow, lillian has come a long way from being rather untrusting and confrontational(understandable) to having a conversation like this with todd, even accepting his rather upset tone without using her own. im quite fond of her, feel bad for her being caught in the middle of this gov mess
Now turn that anger appropriately also against the principal of your kid’s school, and not just her teacher, who has less control over that rotten situation.
She looks so old in that last one.. .-.
I’d imagine being yelled at by a furious Todd would shave a few years off of anyone’s life.
Saw this piece about neuroscience and Romanian orphanages and thought it would be of interest
Very interesting piece.
Let’s see: worst possible outcome is Agent Brown is “Professor” Trunchbull. He’ll make Todd call him “Agent Trunchbull” from then on.
I don’t think he can be. If he was, he wouldn’t have been so callous toward Selkie. Not to mention, he wouldn’t call her a “weak little girl.” I am betting, though, that it’s someone we’ve already seen. It would make sense for him to be checking on her.
I just said it was the worst possible outcome. Possible evidence (or just red herrings): knowing, at the very least, that Selkie isn’t human (because even non-professors know that humans don’t have poison glands), a standing order that he doesn’t want to talk to Todd.
Also, if the government gave him a nice tenure but forced him to cover up his work on Selkie’s species, that would totally give him reason to be bitter towards her and give the “biology 101” comment a deeper meaning.
On the other hand, wasn’t Agent Brown the one who approved the adoption? Than it couldn’t be Trenchbull after all, unless it’s a Severus Snape style situation.
Anyway, it just makes me suspicious that the two characters who seem to know the most about Selkie’s biology don’t want to talk to Todd.
