Bear in mind, this is not an April Fool’s strip. Tony has cast Summon: Crew and rolled a 20.
Chanelle: School friend. Likes math.
Michael Robert and Giselle: The psychic devil orphan kids.
Lynni Gideon and Tommy (aka “Truck”): No prior appearances. I loves me some tertiary cast.
I've felt for awhile now that Tony has more of a "rival" feel than an antagonist. Time to step up his game.
Damn. I really hate bullies.
Indeed. And Amanda’s reaction to this development will decide whether or not I like her as a character at all.
Please don’t read this dismissively. It’s a word that’s been much devalued of late. But Ray Bradbury said it best.
The playground is HELL.
My deepest horror of damnation entails a return to it.
I’m sorry, but that last panel is unintentionally BA.
Bachelor of Arts?
Bad Ass, and I concur. Tony looks cool, even though he is the enemy here.
Given her recent interactions with Selkie I don’t see Heather being OK at going along with this. This may be a turning point for her, and maybe even Kiesha, wherein she/they switch sides.
I want a picture of Tony as Boromir now.
Boromir wasn’t quite this big a jerk.
There might be some under-estimation of Selkie’s abilities going on here (at least until She overheats).
Tony needs to submit that last quote to Howard Taylor of Schlock Mercenary as a maxim.
Tony reminds me a little of Baron VonDiamond from Antihero for hire.
I approve. Only a fool fights fair.
Now Selkie just needs to kick Tony in the jimmy so hard he dies.
wait so you want her to ender’s game him?
Maybe.
I’m actually thinking more along the lines of waiting until summer, when there’ll inevitably be a pool party… and keep in mind that Selkie can breathe underwater…
I don’t thinkshe can take clorinated water
She manages to flush her gills with tap water without any noticeable ill effects from it. Admittedly, pool water is more heavily chlorinated than tap water (because people don’t swim in the local water tower) but we don’t yet have any reason to believe that she wouldn’t be okay as long as she rinses off afterwards. (Which you’re supposed to do anyways!)
And even if it’s unpleasant, it certainly can’t be that much more unpleasant than the cold.
But the water will be much more unpleasant for Tony than the cold is for Selkie.
(Note: I obviously don’t think Selkie should actually *kill* Tony… but she should make him fear her.)
So it’s 12 against 6? (If I counted right.) Or would it be better to describe it as 12 against 5 and Selkie? I think (and sincerely hope) that this turns out a lot more interesting than this current strip would suggest.
What does this current strip suggest to you?
That Selkie and the kids interested in fighting fair will be hurt, badly. I’m only hoping Selkie can do her screech to call overseer attention to what’s going on, but I really fear both for her health and safety right now.
Well, the current strip suggests a total rout by the larger team.
But, considering Selkie’s previously demonstrated abilities with balls, she might be exceptionally capable with snowballs as well. So several hits direct to the face could reduce the advantage of the larger opponent team quickly.
(This is Lilbrownbunny, I had signed in on my phone and did it wonky this morning…)
Here’s what I think will develop: Things will get quite a lot more dire than kids can wrap their heads around and might trigger some epiphanies with the other kids. Remember, Selkies gills gummed up just getting to school that morning. I imagine that Tony getting all Sun Tzu will work as expected at first. Selkie’s team will get buried. I mean that literally. Being cased in snow is going to slow Selkie’s metabolism to a scary point, she’ll have respiratory distress and ultimately be the one in need of rescue; in the process we find out who her friends really are. I think that Heather and Keisha, already having been wrestling with their mean girl demons have a sporting chance of stepping up and defecting. Tony is made of suck. I don’t expect any growth out of him. The rest is anyone’s guess. Amanda… Amanda is not done cooking. We haven’t seen the crescendo that Amanda is going to rise to in terms of rage.
Todd will get called in to school again and be righteously wrathful. It may put Amanda in his line of sight. All this building history will make things even more charged when it is revealed to him at last that Amanda is his biological child. And remember, Andi is about due to return to the scene. I think her return might coincide with whatever confrontation is coming with Amanda.
I am actively concerned about Selkie. She’s in peril just standing out in the snow. Every touch of cold will slow her down, and possibly hurt.
That’s what today’s strip suggests to me.
Oh man, that kid on the end is a TANK. This cannot possibly end well.
I’m wondering if the Optimus Prime colouring is intentional or accidental. XD
Well, he is a truck… 😉
This is getting interesting. And I love that last line, haha. Even if he is a bully, it’s still a great line delivered well.
Is that an authentic Sun Tzu quote?
I don’t think so. Far as I know I made it.
I’ll take that as a “yes” ;-P
while, in basic, I agree with him, there is a difference between war and a team game. Unless your playing risk, or Axis & Allies
…not gonna lie. I love that last panel.
Did anyone notice on then end the little girl has a heart above her head? Someone has a crush on Tony!
