They have a peg leg up on the curriculum.
I've never actually read Treasure Island. It's the one where they make dinosaurs from fossilized mosquitos, right? Or is it the one with the spider and the talking pig?
They have a peg leg up on the curriculum.
Treasure Island is the one with the old miser and the ghosts of webcomic plots past, present and future.

Nice reaction pic. <3
Well…. kind of. It’s the one where a talking spider takes over a pirate ship and then hunts a giant white plesiosaur that likes to eat naked ladies. The pigs are all involved in the take over, and there is all this political commentary hidden in there – I think that is why they make kids read it.
So great!
I thought it was the one about the little blonde girl and the dope-smoking caterpillar.
I thought it was about a flying boy who never grew up.
No, it’s the one with the teenagers and the talking dog that drive around in a van, investigating mysteries. Or is it the motivational speaker who lives in a van down by the river?
I know it involves a van,
No, I know that one, that’s the one about a man who lays down for a nap and ends up sleeping through the entire American Revolutionary War.
Then he lops off his hand, attaches a chainsaw on it, and starts misquoting movies.
Suzanne takes you down, to her place near the river…
This thread is exactly how my mom and I talk about holidays, whenever we see an early store display.
See Halloween: “Oh hey, I think there’s a holiday coming up. Rabid furry things, right?”
See Christmas: “Oh yeah, those tiny guys who wear green and eat gold!”
See Valentines: “Murderous reindeer, yeah?”
Lines are getting much neater & nicer.
Seeing Keisha though makes me feel sad.. All of her friends have been adopted except her 🙁
Thank you! I went so long not really paying attention to my hand-pressure, it’s nice to see some results coming out of putting a bit more thought into it.
Keisha’s a durable kid, she’ll be okay. 😉
Eh he could always get adopted by Faina and Morgan. Sorry those are rp ocs I use a lot. Faina is a Siberian ballerina….I even drew a pic of her kiesha dancing to non boring music.
Treasure Island. Man. I always felt kinda bad for the main character.
I kinda prefer Treasure Planet to the book though. XD Space is just cooler.
I remember “Up and at ’em, Atom Ant!” as the catchphrase of the Atom Ant cartoon I watched as a kid…
Me too! Up and at ’em Atom, Atom Ant!
So does Jessie. 😉
Yeah I was gonna say, isn’t it “Atom ant” not “adamant”? Or did Wolverine star in a kids show back in the day…
I realize upon posting this that, yes of course Wolverine was in the X-Men cartoon, but thats not what I meant 😛
Adamant is a real word, as well.
” refusing to be persuaded or to change one’s mind.
“he is adamant that he is not going to resign”
synonyms: unshakable, immovable, inflexible, unwavering, unswerving, uncompromising, insistent, resolute, resolved, determined, firm, steadfast; More
stubborn, unrelenting, diehard, unyielding, unbending, rigid, obdurate, inexorable, intransigent, (dead) set
“he begged his mother to let him try out for the football team, but she was adamant”
I figure it as Jessie using something from her childhood to help give the kids a fun thing to shout, but mostly it’s a referential joke that just popped in my head. 😛

There ya go. 😀
Thanks. 🙂
If yu do nothing else for yourself this winter, watch, “Muppet Treasure Island”. OMG! The bad jokes are hilarious, and the acting is superb. A Very Young Tim Curry playing Long John Silver is wonderful. And the soundtrack is full of ear worms. It really is the best muppet movie. And the double-entendres are off the charts, but subtle so it’s kid safe. On the fourth seeing I was still finding humour I didn’t see the first three times.
Ookachaka Ookachaka something not right!
Tim Curry is always a great pirate. After watching Muppet Treasure Island, if you want more Pirate Curry, watch the Fox Peter Pan and the Pirates tv show. He plays Hook in that and is amazing in a great show.
Tim Curry is the BEST Hook. Ods bods hammer and tongs!
Man I haven’t thought of that cartoon in yeeaaaars. I used to love it.
So… weird confession time. I swear this is related to the topic at hand.
I (at age 38) have a variety of imaginary friends. I don’t interact with them nearly as much as I used to, but they help me as a writer (mostly different flavors of dialog), and I’ve had most of them since at least teenage years, some from college, some from later.
One of the earliest was my imaginary boyfriend, Mal. Based — originally — on the computer from Captain Planet (the one owned by a villainous woman), who for some reason I developed a crush on. He changed a lot from that original idea, but that’s where he started.
Since I’ve never had an actual boyfriend, Mal is still kinda stuck in that shallow-teenager’s ideal of a satellite boyfriend, someone without needs or interests of his own, pretty much devoted to my emotional support and encouragement. Not a viable mate, but an enjoyable good friend.
But here’s what I found out like six months ago: Mal — the original computer character — was voiced by Tim Curry.
For the past 20+ years, I have had an imaginary boyfriend based on Tim Curry, and until last year I didn’t even realize it.
I’m feeling a mite bit creeped out by today’s page. There feels to be this sinister undercurrent of devious conformity at play here.
Well, the titular character is still a bastion of independent rationale. So; yay Selkie!
Something I don’t *think* I’ve seen answered yet…why are Jessie’s eyes pink? Does she have albinism, or just choose to use colored contacts? I dunno why I never really thought about it before but now I wonder…
She’s has albinism and doesn’t choose to use contacts to hide it.
Ty for answering 🙂
