Had a great time at Anime Central last Saturday! Thanks a bunch to those who managed to find me, sorry I had to do it in such an awkward way. Next year I hope to get on the ball early enough to get an actual artists alley table.
I also took the opportunity to talk a little bit with some of the people behind Spinnerette and Mahou Shounen Fight and pick their brains on getting into doing Cons. Much appreciate them answering my silly fledgling questions. 😀
One of my favorite character traits of Selkie is how she can be both a little sweetheart and a vindictive cuss.

I love the drama button ^^
Me too! After discovering that, I found the app version!
Links still aren’t hot.
Principal’s shirt buttons. Tsk tsk.
Yeah I can’t quite figure out what I did to disable links. Someone recommended a plugin to enable BBCode but I dunno if I want that quite yet.
Totally on the wrong side. Men’s shirts button left-over-right, not right-over left.
Disabled the Likes/Dislikes and the link went hot again. So that plugin seems to be disabling text-to-link conversion… >_< At least I know who to talk to now.
Oh, and the Principal is now wearing a man’s shirt. :3
😀
Did Selkie plan EVERYTHING out? The principal coming, getting Truck agitated to the point he yells and shakes a fist at a teacher, the whole caboodle?
Selkie, you magnificent, adorable little bastard!
Something something Batman gambit.
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BatmanGambit
I suspect this is working out better than she ever dared to hope, but keeping your cool regardless of what happens is also part of being a magnificent bastard.
I´m reasonably sure that the only thing she actually planned for was for Tommy to threaten her in front of the camera, and within earshot of Jessie and the librarian – even if she knew that Jessie was going to stop Tommy short of her, she couldn´t have planned for Tommy to threaten Jessie, or for Mina and the Principal to show up at EXACTLY the right moment.
Selkira: “Exactly as planned!”
“Fattie” says the angry little marshmallow… >.>
It’s a gendered insult. Boys don’t get called that nearly as much. He thinks of himself as “big and strong”, while a girl of his complexion would be “fat”. World’s unfair.
@Neo you mean Exactlys as planneds
I’m hoping Tommy doesn’t back down: He needs more rope to hang himself.
Somehow I don’t think this will be enough evidence for the Trunchbulls.
Well, they should be fine as long as they don’t do anything too drastic.
I spot a pink square on the shelf behind Selkie that doesn’t match the books. I really hope this is her phone capturing every second on video.
The teacher should have waited. If he had strck the assistant, that would have really been hard to fight. But having known people like the Trenchbulls. They wouldn’t even believe his guilt if he murdered someone right in front of them. I just hope Agent Brown makes a showing when they go to complain and threaten lawsuits.
I’m trying to comment without devolving to angrish rants over the possibility that Tommy might still get away without punishment
Today is indeed a wonderful day, Selkie. Bask in the glory of a plan gone right. Today, you have blossomed into a beautiful young Mastermind. Today the library, tomorrow the world.
And remember that no matter what plans you pursue next, you have made the Trunchbulls’ nightmares come true.
Hail Hydra.
Of course the Trunchbulls will find someway to blame it all on Selkie, Jessie, Mina or perhaps the Principal….
Tommy has a definite “I dun Goofed” look…. He might know that he’s overstepped his bounds in a way he won’t be able to avoid and evade. Mind you , the notion that tommy thinks that one teacher’s aide won’t be able to make a claim stick is… unsettling.
I am much more unnerved by the principal’s reaction: let the chips fall where they may, THAT is a man without power … Or Hope.
From Tommy’s point of view it’s been borne out by the evidence. So far, nothing he has done has ever been able to stick to him
I don’t get why Truck is scared of Mina when he’s not scared of Jessie or apparently anyone else.
The principal is kind of freaked. He’s the one with his ass in a crack if the Trunchbulls are really that powerful.
I think its because MIna has the “MOM’s Athority Voice””, remember she once got jessie to run to do homework instinctivly with it once, and shes a grown woman!
Perhaps it´s also because he realizes that this time, when the principal was there to see it, it´s different from last time.
You wrote: Much appreciate them answering my silly fledgling questions.
My comment: birds of a feather. Hope to see you at one!
Who here is as pleased with Jessie’s growth from shoe store stock clerk to educator. From accepting blames for stuffs that wasn’t her faults, to enough backbone to stand up for herself and for others? Magnificent and believable growth.
Jessie rocks!
that she does
OK.
SO.
We have Truck here talking down to a teacher, he also wants to hurt Selkie, then the Principal and another teacher comes in and finds him disrespecting.
YOU SHOULD HAVE RECORDED IT.
GRRRRRRRRRR
Selkie is recording every second of it with video
wait… is that WHY she wanted to wait in the detective books section? that was an area watched by security cameras?
Sadly for a real world example of recording bullying, there’s just been an incident where a disable boy recorded the bullying by his tormentors to prove what was happening…and the principal called the police and the boy was charged with FELONY WIRE TAPPING. The bullies were unpunished.
>_< What is WRONG with people…
I’m guessing that that reaction means that’s NOT what you were planning here.
Are you familiar with game Alignment systems? That is what we call a “Lawful-Evil” authority.
No, it’s just lawful neutral. It doesn’t hate you, it just doesn’t care. And sometimes, it’s a bit thick.
I’d put it closer to LE: “You’ve challenged the status quo and for that you must pay.”
Well if that’s true, the video needs to go onto Youtube and the boy needs to start a Reddit post linking to it. Or 4Chan. Whatever is necessary to destroy that Principal’s career. Normally, even in “supervillain mode”, I don’t condone destroying peoples’ careers over a single mistake, but that, if accurate, is an absolute abuse of power and other students would certainly be in danger. So the nuclear option would be appropriate IMHO.
It is the flood of “Zero Tolerance” or as I prefer “Zero Intelligence” policies that cause this BS. It is a shield that allows cowards to hide behind it without making value judgments as to the merits of the incident. Though in the incident of the bullying, I would argue that there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in a public place. This is how the government claims they can film you anywhere at anytime outside of a residency. If the incident was filmed anywhere but a private residence, SUE! Sue everyone, the teachers who failed to protect the child’s civil liberties, the parents of the bullies, the school district, the principle, and make it public. VERY PUBLIC! And probably the police as well for failing to act in the public good. Since I am an Ass, I would fake a suicide attempt. Blame the stress and mental anguish drove me to it and make sure I told everyone in the entire chain what happened. The doctors are required by law to report stuff like this. I would want them all to bleed and beg me to make it stop. And then laugh at them.
It’s the same kind of thinking that gets the student who finds a knife in the bathroom and turns it in at the office charged with possession of a deadly weapon on school grounds. What does this teach students? Keep your head down, be quiet, take whatever crap people heap on you, and never, never, NEVER attract the attention of any public servant ever. But, hey, we’re raising the next generation of citizens of our great democracy!
I spy with my little eye something behind Selkie
And that something spies with its little eyes what Tommy has been doing… *evil grin*
I don’t know…it seems that his parents won’t believe accusations without anything short of a video of him doing it from start to finish.
Here, Tommy didn’t even physically touch Jessie, so isn’t that, to those two and whoever they somehow manage to convince, a “grey area”?
Oh sweet baby gerkins I hope Sel is recording this plz.
Does the school have security cameras? Why do I have the feeling Selkie moved to that section so she’d be sitting within sight of a security camera…
Y’know, the Trunchbulls will make a federal case out of Mina saying “flipping.”
He’s not out of his mind, he lost it a long time ago…
Of course, that’s assuming he ever had one. Considering his parents, he may have been born that way.
Because Tommy is svelte…
Wait a minute… Is that extended arm him try to hit her?
Waaaaait a minute, I JUST realized that Tommy has the same last name as Headmistress Trunchbull from Matilda.
I know this is many months later, but I have to say this is the best game of Xanatos Speed Chess I have ever seen an 8 year old play, and the part I love is that every single bit of it is utterly believable.
She definitely, definite is working on her Magnificient Bastard degree. Pulling this off at 8 years old could even be her doctorate thesis.
FEEL THE MIGHT OF MOM-VOICE, AND TREMBLE!
