Wondering if Dave knows Tommy the Truck is also a Steven King villain who died because he did something stupid that remained unknown in the book Dr.Sleep. Random statement of the day.
Social disability or not, you totally deserve the trap you’re enthusiastically running into. It’s like instead of panicking and trying to fly away when he realized that the Death Star wasn’t a moon, Han Solo instead narrows his eyes and mutters “Ah, so that’s where Darth Vader has been trying to hide all this time!”
“Never give the Big Laugh before your victory is assured.” Especially when the window is open.
Given that the window’s open, though, she has a perfect view of Truck coming inside, and probably also had a great view of him looking up and seeing her, so she’ll know he’s coming. (Assuming, of course, that she wasn’t too busy laughing, which might be too much to ask from an eight year old.)
Truck acts like he thinks adults do. How he actually behaves, emotionally, is more like a preschooler who doesn’t yet understand how authority works. He’s intelligent, but there really seems to be some kind of social or emotional issue.
I don’t know. Selkie is specifically being watched by the adults BECAUSE of truck, and a warm Selkie might be able to outrun Truck for a while. Last time Truck attacked selkie he got away with it because his parents denied any evidence.
This time the library may have a camera catching Truck be the aggressor as Selkie runs. Indisputable evidence. With any luck Truck will be walking right into a trap.
At the very least, Selkie’s had it pointed out to her that she’s a carnivore. I doubt she wouldn’t defend herself at all this time, being warm and all.
I hope they catch Truck before Selkie gets seriously hurt and I hope that Truck gets expelled with a black mark on his permanent record and his parents get a huge dose of humble pie. Even better if his parents try to fight it again despite overwhelming evidence and they either lose their job or get demoted (finally forcing them to recognize their son for the thug in training that he is) and the principal faces disciplinary action for showing favoritism to the antagonist that Truck was.
As the parent of a special needs child who was bullied, then punished by staff for tattling, I can second this. Schools have big money for big lawyers and can excel at character assassination of anyone who dares to “libel” them.
Why? Considering Truck’s father is well-educated, I’d expect he insists his boy study hard. Truck isn’t stupid. There’s a difference between unintelligent and lacking in common sense.
Dave, I’d say you’re misquoting the list. Here’s the relevant line, copied directly from TVTropes:
“20. Despite its proven stress-relieving effect, I will not indulge in maniacal laughter. When so occupied, it’s too easy to miss unexpected developments that a more attentive individual could adjust to accordingly.”
Oh, my. X3 I love Selkie’s evil laugh!
Truck is about to do something stupid, isn’t he?
Almost certainly, given that people are specifically keeping an eye on Selkie.

I did not know that! O_o
Wow. This kid’s a certified sociopath. WTH. Bonus points for referencing the list of awesomeness! (You might also like Skippy’s List)
Really, Truck? REALLY!?!

I agree, Selkie’s set a trap and Truck is in for a surprise.

Sigh… Bad move, Sel… Truck acts like and is nearly the size of an adult — an angry adult. I don’t think she’s thinking…

Schools have a remarkable capacity to shield their staff from consequences.

As soon as Agent Brown shows up, I’m sure they will be.
First, I really love you have to have a warning about comments but still use your terrible sense of censorship.
Second Tuck needs a serious reality check.
Oh Selkie, Selkie, Selkie… you really shouldn’t gloat.
It’s something of a surprise that Truck is aware of the library…
Why? Considering Truck’s father is well-educated, I’d expect he insists his boy study hard. Truck isn’t stupid. There’s a difference between unintelligent and lacking in common sense.
They also probably need to research things for classwork in the library.
wow, for a school those windows open really far. And wouldn’t it be cold up there? Granted, I don’t know how cold is too cold.

This is why paraphrasing/quoting from memory is dangerous.
Man now I gotta wait to see what happens? 🙁 MANNNNN
Every kid down in the schoolyard liked fighting a lot.
But the Selkie who lived up in the library did NOT!
Dave, we REALLY need to have a “like” button.
… Is this going to turn into some sort of subverted Grinch parody? Because if so, I think you have won the Internet.
If Selkie /hasn’t/ set a trap for Truck, this is going to come back to bite her.
Arrrggggh! I just read through the archives today, and it stopped on this cliffhanger! Noooooo……..
Well FUDGE D:
Why must you do this me? I can hardly wait till friday!!!!!
Selkie go to the dark side
