So, I was thinking that I haven’t done a Sketch Bonus Saturday in awhile, and I’ve been wanting to explore what an adultified Selkie may look like. So, in addition to the usual Friday strip, check in on Saturday for a peek at Selkie, All Growed Up.
I seem to remember saying I was going to try to write shorter arcs for awhile. I looked back over the archives and realized this arc started December 27 2012. ...I SUCK at short. XD
There’s nothing wrong with long arcs. You do them very well
I am sure there is less for Todd to worry about then he thinks.
Well, your long arcs are full of many smaller overlapping arcs. It just comes more naturally to you, because that’s how it happens in real life.
Also, I hope you know how much pressure is on you now, concerning the adult Selkie sketch. All our curiosity requires that the picture be amazing.
Better long but complete arcs than short ones with something left out-
You are doing good.
You mean minor or mayor in killjoy when the land lady spoke. And I always make sure that I follow your comic love it to bits <3 and First time commenting (yay for being brave)
I meant minor. Like, a degree majoring in Landlord with a minor in Killjoy.
Still, shouldn’t she have said “I’m a landlady”?
Woo! Adult Selkie!
And…what exactly is that sound George is making in the last panal supposed to mean? Is he moaning over having to double check his stuff? Did he just realize he never packed it back up? Or is it more “oh shit, someone’s gonna get it now”?
I think he was realizing that she was trying to get rid of him to talk to Todd alone. Whenever adults want to talk without kids, it’s bad news. (At least from a kid point of view)
To me it sounds more like “Oooooh, I forget my backpack in Selkie´s room.”
Some people are short story writers, and some are novel writers. Contrary to popular belief, they are two very different talents, and you are really awesome at long arcs.
I love your arcs thus far no matter what length they are. Keep doing what you’re doing. I think the majority of the readers will be happy with the comic as long as the story is enjoyable. BTW I love the line today with the landlady minoring in killjoy.
Wow, I haven’t been on this comic in over a year, feels good to be back, now to catch up
Good to see ya back! 😀 If you’ve been gone awhile, take note that the comic is updating Monday Wednesday Friday now.
Dave> a.) you do not suck at short, you excel at good writing! 😉 b.) I totally am lost with today’s dialogue lol. It may be just me. c.) Saturday sketch plus three strips a week?? You put me to shame, ser!
Today’s dialogue is sort of all over the place. Various parties drifting away from game night, etc.
And there is no shame to be had! So long as the Velvy hugs keep flowing. ;P
Dave, I think you’re looking about it the wrong way. You do not write a comic for everyday. I forget when you started with three times a week, but even if it was first week of January, 27 comics is not that long of an arc. I remember the last time you mentioned that, I was still in the process of catching up on the comic. And truly, it doesn’t take as long to read them as it does to write them.
I *love* your comic. I think it’s well written, and touches on a lot of relevant issues. It has never felt like you were dragging anything out, and many times in the past couple months I’ve been hanging on the edge of my seat for the next one to come out so I can see what happens next within the story arc. Please don’t beat yourself up about the length of your arcs.
I love your stories no matter how long or short they are. As my hubby says a story is only as long as it needs to be.
dude I love this comic. Selkie reminds me of myself in elementary school.
for Asuka if she is german the way to spell ciao would Tschau.
