Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.

Well, now Todd must face the annoying question; bring up his daughter from the basement to translate for the wedding crashers, or try to mime his way through a conversation and listen to his government pall chew him out for still not taking those language lessons.
Selkie has gaps in her knowledge of the language, too, though. We may be about to learn how big those gaps are. 🙁
Avery better get there soon, along with whatever team he can assemble. Pohl and Then at the least, I’d guess.
Huh, so our mysterious Echo is a man, I guess that rules out a Selkie/Plo Quar reunion.
Couldn’t have been her, even if it was a woman. Plo Quar is “periwinkle,” like Selkie. This guy isn’t. I thought the same thing at first until I realized they were the wrong clan. 🙁
Tarnagh, where do you see anything that shows the clan of the echo? All I see is fire eyes and laser beams.
Yeah, we have conspicuously NOT seen any sign of the Echo’s actual face – all of their lines have been from the damaged part of the ship. It’s not necessarily the Elder who’s the Echo.
That said, given the circumstances (Ban’Thie indicating their goal was finding and protecting the Echo, the Echo calling their pursuer a child, and the pursuers saying they don’t want to tell Emperor Cern they lost the cargo,) I think it is pretty likely that the Elder is in fact both, and therefore a Very Influential Person in Sarnothi society. It looks like everyone here is Sar’Teri. (I could be mistaken and they’re Tel’Dora, but if so that’s very new information that there are still splinter groups who avoided exile.) Assuming the Elder is as well, he’s probably politically-valuable enough that him opposing Cern would be Very Bad PR for Cern’s reign. (And if he’s NOT, that pretty much has to mean that Cern’s been keeping politically-valuable hostages from the other clans for months.) Either way, this is going to have pretty huge implications on the surface’s understanding of how things are going in Sarnoth proper. The civil war isn’t over yet – or almost immediately reignited, with other Sar’Teri opposing Cern taking control for himself.
I just went back and looked. You’re both correct. For some reason I was “seeing” the Echo as the captain of the ship but it is apparently someone we haven’t yet seen. My bad.
Not necessarily. Buun asked “the Elder” if he was all right. He did not ask “the echo”. And the Elder replied that “SOME are injured”. So there are more on that ship besides the pilot and Buun and the echo/elder.
This appears to me to be a refugee ship – a load of escapees from the evil empire. And one of them is an echo.
Which one? That is still to be discovered.
Well, this answers my question from yesterday. I was wrong and it was the bank of the shore not the bottom of the lake.
Also, I see no way in which this ends poorly. /s
I hope Todd has been brushing up on his Sarnothi…
This page reminds me of both “The Mouse That Roared” and “The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming!”
“Singing to the School”, I like that one!
Also, here’s hoping they don’t decide to ‘liberate the Echos’ when they see Selkie and Amanda!
I have a feeling Marta will be acting like the “Don” in this situation XD
“So, you have come unannounced…on the day of my wedding.”
I doubt any of these Sarnothi will be able to recognize wedding clothing for what it is – any chance any of them know any English? I hope Todd has learned enough Sarnothi to keep things calm until the agents arrive
