Feel like I should say something here instead of letting it be buried in comments: Marta’s swearing in the previous strip was an accident. I write it out to know how much spacing and size I need for the black bars, then it fell out of my brain to actually censor it. I’m leaving it in since the comments kept talking about it, but it’s not a policy change on my part. Just a slip up. It wasn’t worth bickering over, *he said passive-aggressively*.
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
I don’t think anyone blames Marta for swearing over the burned cake. A lot of us also feel that way. Apology accepted for the swearing (but it was appropriate this time, given who and why!)..but it was funny!
I had to stop one of my best friends from challenging her cake/cupcake delivery girl to a push up competition because the delivery gal was late. I’m not lying, I’m serious. This woman in her wedding gown, full makeup, hair, etc was that mad. A simple swear word is nothing in comparison. She was an hour late but had enough buffer that everything was set up by the time the ceremony was over so it all worked out.
I read that as ‘enough butter’ but it still made sense.
I may be Reserve instead of Active like I was…but I’m still a Soldier. Why apologize for swear words? If people don’t like it, they don’t have to read this. Your comic rocks.
Because Dave wants the comic to be kid friendly and specifically advertises it that way.
If he changes his mind and changes the comics direction/target audience that’s fine, but it’s still the right thing to do as a creator to apologize when the product doesn’t match the promise. People appreciate that kind of honesty and integrity.
So while you (and I) personally might not be bothered by the use of language it doesn’t mean everyone is happy with it.
If you don’t like it don’t read it only applies if the author is upfront about what the content level will be.
It’s pretty legendary in my family that when my brother asked my dad for advice about girls, he thought for a long minute, then said, “On your wedding day, never ever say to your new wife “it’s just a cake”.” Good advice, methinks!
I did find it weird that we saw the swearing, but understandable lol.
BUT ENOUGH CHIT-CHAT! LET’S SAVE THAT WEDDING!
LMFAO, wow.
Adventure SWOOOSH
Maidenly Reserves to the fore!!
Wait. Who here actually cares about the swearing? Pretty sure most of the readers here are adults anyway..
I was reading since before Dave went and censored some of the previous ones. I like thr curing but it ain’t my comic.
I must admit, I enjoyed the uncensored swearing.
I didn’t even notice
