Haha, I briefly noticed her eye color initially then never thought about it again because cartoon people can be whatever color 🙂 (also colored contacts maybe,?)
You can tell this comic takes place in the North because down South, should would have been and would still be “Miss Jessie”: title for respect, first name for closeness, applied to grown-ups regardless of current status. Well, that, and having so much interaction with the Great Lakes kind of gives the setting away.
Very true lol. I’m 26 and living in Virginia, and people older than me I still tend to refer to as Mr/Ms Firstname unless they ask otherwise. We aren’t trying to suck up, it’s just how we talk. Especially for people who aren’t related to you but are still friends of the family.
…wonder if she’s gonna freak out again about having her (lack of) ears show, or if she’s self-confident enough by now to roll with it and dare anybody to say anything.
That, and if anybody *does* get on her case about it, Amanda will likely put them *down* XD
If this is Selkie’s first time getting this confirmation, I find that really funny because, like… she just got through a whole school year with Jessie. I’m imaging some kid logic of, “Maybe that would be rude to ask a teacher. Oh, but she’s not a teacher now? Okay, here we go.”
As an albino, who is also plus size and queer, I both love this and always wondered! Fun fact, it is VERY hard to dye our hair blue. Possible, but hard!
Who else immediately checked back to see if her eyes have always been pink because they only just now noticed?
Me. It’s a cartoon medium. Pale skin and light hair in regular palette colours just looks like a Caucasian blonde.
Also decades of watching anime has kind of inured me against making any in-world assumptions about hair or eye colour.

I always thought they were a golden color or a really light brown.
Full circle awkwardness because when we first met Jesse, she was awkwardly asking about why Selkie’s skin was blue

How can you roll a Natural ONE on Genetics?
I love Jessie so much ❤️
I was today years old when I found out Jessie is albino O.o Did not know this lol
Wait, what? I thought she was just pale. o.O

I wonder if she’s still self-conscious about it now that Sarnothi are mainstream enough that people know what the deal is.

I didn’t know that she was albino.
