For me (Sacramento area) a jungle gym was more of a general-purpose climbing thing (at one school it was a geodesic half-dome made of bars). Monkey bars are specifically the things you climb up and swing across on.
Yeah, a “jungle gym” (in Georgia and Kentucky both, in the 1980s and 1990s) is a dome made of bars that can be climbed. The intent there is to climb the outside of the dome, but there’s always that one kid who ducks through the bars to climb the inside instead.
I’m used to “monkey bars” as well, for the bars you swing across with your arms. That ladder has too many rungs for traditional monkey bars, though; there’s no way to fit through the rungs to swing across the bars. OTOH, the ladder being the way it is makes it easier for Selkie to get to where she is.
Maybe it’s intentional? If you climb up the inside of the ladder and turn around as you grab the top bar, you can swing across. If you climb the outside of the ladder, you can scramble across. The latter is not usually an intended use case, though; falling from that height is likely to cause more serious injury than falling from hanging onto the bars with your hands.
Hey, did you know the buttons aren’t connected? Only way to see this page is to enter via the home page.
“Sarnothi of the Climber Bars”
Honey! Wake up! New Meme template just dropped!
I think in her last bubble, selkie meant to say “theres” rather than “heres”
Selkie and Amanda’s sisterly banter continues to develop positively! ❤️

We call those “monkey bars” where I live
anyone else got different slang?
Jungle gym growing up in the LA area in the 80s.

In Dutch it just translates to “climbing rack”.
Climbing bars might fit better for sarnothi than monkey bars.

Dog of wisdom reference!
Panzer of the Lake reference
The “That’s a good wisdom!” puts it in Dog of Wisdom territory.
Dog of wisdom? What a treat! Haaaa!!! 🙂
I legit thought I came up with that as a kid. XD
Dave I’m disappointed in you. Clearly Danny Devito should be Mario.
