La la la la, we can’t hear you.
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
La la la la, we can’t hear you.
If Gien didn’t know why they were coming, where does he get off saying there isn’t time for sightseeing? Also, “deserve” not “derserve”.
Seems an extrra R fell in therre. Thanks forr the catch.
There’s also a 1 mixed in with the !s in your “SHIMMERS!!”
Now is that a speech pattern that humans will make when trying to learn Tensei? 😀
Dave, what was Gien like before the war? Has he always been like this, or is it the stress of war that is to blame for his behaviour?
Probably a bit less snappish.
i get the feeling he’s used to a set cast/hierarchy and wants to get back to that in-spite of the fact that the situation can not feasibly support that same hierarchy. times have changed and he hasn’t changed with them
Gien smells very similar to me. As much as it SUCKS to say as the more unpleasant notes of his personality have been the ones visible. And as such, it smells to me like what he wants, is stability, for people to be more happy due to stability, and the main stability he knows is the one created from his old systems. He knows how to be very good at whatever his job was, and he’s not so comfortable in his new role, so he’s overreaching and acting more maniacal then he intends to, partially out of a desire to make absolutely certain he succeeds, but moreso out of a lack of understanding for how he can do what he wants without being an idiot, or, moreso, not knowing how to compromise and understand that situations need to evolve.
That said, if he’s actually -always- been a leader, this is more of a confounding aspect to me, because in that scenario he should already have experience and know that what he’s doing doesn’t exactly make friends nor does it always get the results he wants.
as for the lack of ?empathy for their current situation and him going back to the old way of doing things… it may in part be such, that when he WAS in a position of power, whatever whim he may have had may have been followed whether it was good or not… and he doesn’t want to LOSE that power, kinda like how some real-life political leaders are today… also, like i said yesterdays post, he’s gonna end up yelling at the kids to get off his lawn til the day he dies as a crotchety ol’ man…
Gien, my man, just cause she’s an echo doesn’t stop her from being a kid. It’ll be okay, you’ll recover, but just cause all of society has collapsed around you and life is chaos, doesn’t mean you can be mad at kids/teens being kids/teens.
Ha Ha Ha!
You know, right now those impudent teens are doing a better job of making sure ‘The Echo’ has a reason to care at all about ‘where her loyalties should lay’ than Gien ever did.
What exactly is he planning to do, send her to Echo-School? Tell her how she shouldn’t want to stay with her adoptive father, whom she loves, but a complete stranger like him instead?
If he wants Selkie to help his community, making sure she is a part of that community is the first step. That means getting to know the people and their culture, making friends with the other kids, and yes, sightseeing.
Seriously, Gien, get a grip.
Hey Dave!: How old are the twins?
also, one way to help differentiate between divers is to change the dive suit or helmet colors or something like that to make it more obvious who is who…
…and Gien the crotchety old asshole returns. Let her be happy and you’ll have a better chance of getting what you need from her. Being an asshole will just get you ignored.
Ha ha, get bent old man.
Being a grumpy, self-important old fart, that’s what sin. There is no one teenagers respect less.
Gien, if you really want an answer to that, we’re going to have to start with “Being a humorless asshole that’s trying to manipulate an eight-year-old child into being a properly obedient (sorry, “responsible and dutiful”) Echo.
My advice? Let kids be kids. Especially let Selkie be a kid, let her be happy when she’s in town. The more friends she makes here, the more she enjoys being here, the earier it will be to convince 18-year-old Selkie that her people need her.
You asshole.
What sins? “Living long enough to have forgotten all the crap _you_ pulled at that age.”
What sins?
Do you want the list to be chronological or alphabetic?
