Ah, the 7 year old version of nature vs nurture. Does not help Selkie has been treated like a freak and a monster for much of her life. No wonder she was borderline “Then Let Me Be Evil”.
She probably could identify a lot with the main character in Megamind.
Everything about this scene rocks so hard!! Action! Tension between the two warring natures! Solo and Evil vs Agency/In a Group and Awesome Goodness! I love the action lines in the background. Glorious!
Well, you nailed that – C’est 10. But Dr. Terrorhammer IS a woman. She’s the old one (role model, adult, power figure) that Childe Selkie wanted to grow into, no? Yes? Maybe, perhaps, I think that I’m following this.
I’m not following the action. Is this Selkie’s dream or the movie they were watching? If it’s a movie, why are the characters Sarnathi or whatever the mer-folk are called? I’m lost.
She doesn’t know what hers will look like, probably.
Also, I’m waiting for Selkie to have an epiphany like “Selkie or Nei Lee?”, in which the two merge – she does good, but with Dr. Terrorhammer’s flair for the dramatic.
SNICKT!

Nothing says Oscar worthy set design like a random mammoth in the room.
Ah, definitely a dream and not just a fantasy.
Poor selkie. She really has a lot to work through, doesn’t she?
Love it, Dave!!

Uhnnn, Dave, is that lipstick on agent Selkie 006? Is she projecting herself as Plo Quar?
I think it is more that Agent Awesome is older than Dr. Terrorhammer. Look at the way they are drawn.
She’s dreaming herself as a secret agent (and as an adult on top of it) in the tone of “glamorous, but can still kick a dude in the face.”

Selkie’s having a dream sequence wrought from some internal conflict.
From the high heels, the lipstick, and the boobs, I assume that Selkie is dreaming herself as an adult.
So why no facial markings?
She doesn’t know what hers will look like, probably.

Such a Drama Queens.
Undoubtedly does not know how tall she will be or how busty she will be, but she’s dreamed height and bust.
Dreams don’t require knowledge.
