I hope Selkie doesn’t play the victim here. They have every right to be angry and hurt. Selkie needs to own up and properly apologize after she explains her actions. None of that, “I’m sorry, but…” crap people like to pull when they go and apologize. She can explain her actions beforehand so they realize it wasn’t some messed up prank, but she needs to acknowledge what she did was wrong and the why doesn’t excuse her actions and then sincerely apologize. Until she does that, I don’t expect Te Fahn to truly forgive her. Even then, she may be wary of Selkie for a while and she might even avoid George because of this to avoid being further made fun of. Selkie really messed up by meddling.
I SO agree. I think Te Fahn will not be estranged from Georgie because of this. I think her cultural P.O.V. will truth over shenanigans, so she and Georgie will be tight, as before. And I think it will be some weeks before she and Selkie are comfortable interacting,… Perhaps a sleep-over at Te Fahn’s …er… Pond? Pool?… Place! There, that’s fixed. Sleep-over at Te Fahn’s place!
I wonder about Mandy, though, she’s been noticeably vanished, undetectable, invisible, + absent. As in gone. “Shouldn’t she be in the same classroom,” he asked, questioningly?
I don't see that happening. As a general rule, "matchmakers" don't consider what they did was wrong. They see that you're upset about it, and they normally feel sorry that you're upset, but they not only didn't do anything wrong, they would do it again. They might apologize, but that is just words. "If I say I'm sorry, they will quit being mad at me, and then I can set them up with a really good date."
I dunno if Selkie is that wrapped up in herself, at least I hope not. I do think she’s not going to believe she was wrong and that she was just ‘helping’ them. She’ll probably believe she’s gone about it in the wrong way, but that the general intend behind everything wasn’t ‘wrong’ exactly. I don’t think she’s going to try and do anything like this again, but I do see her saying, “But I was only trying to help you.” happening. Problem is, the intend doesn’t specifically matter. You can have all the right intentions and still royally mess up. She meddled and was hiding things from her friends. That’s what she needs to acknowledge.
“Heys, I really thoughts you twos liked one anothers and I was tryings to be helpfuls by giving flowers. It was a really dumbs ideas and I’m sorry I did thats. I’m sorry I embarrassed yous in class. I was just tryings to helps you twos get into a beautifuls anime shoujo relationships with pinks sparkles and bubbles.”
Is probably what she’s gonna say. I can’t speak Selkie so the s’s are probably all wrong.
And then of course there’s Tony going around spreading garbage and trying to start trouble. He’d better watch himself or one of these days he’s gonna say the wrong thing about the wrong person and he’s gonna have a real bad time.
Completely off topic, but Dave when one of the Sarnothi call Selkie <> in Tensei, do you imagine them saying Nei Le, or Selkie with a heavier Tensei accent?
No, they are saying “Selkie”. Selkie isn’t the sarnothi pronunciation/translation of Nei Li, it’s a nickname she was given at the orphanage that she’s come to identify with on equal terms with her birth name.
Sad thing is I expect Te Fahn to still be angry and even more embarrassed when Selkie explains why she has done this.

Basically she needs to learn the “road to hell is paved with good intentions” aesop.

People like Tony eventually wind up physically or verbally smacked down eventually and wonder why.
So George thinks too that it was a prank?

Oops. That’s supposed to say “Call Selkie ‘Selkie’ in Tensei” with the double greater than/less than symbols, but it got rid of it instead.

It’s effectively an adopted middle name. https://selkiecomic.com/comic/selkie516/
