Heh. I like how this clearly gets across the fact that Todd must have read Selkie the riot act during the unseen office interlude without having to actually show said interlude.
Though he’s in therapy now and has realized that there might genuinely be something wrong with him. That storyline ended with Selkie agreeing to burry the hatchet with him if he continued to try to be better.
Which is basically the only “make friends with the bully” ending that’s completely believable.
Yeah, I seem to remember that he came to Selkie afterwards and told her his dad was making him see a therapist. He was trying to get Selkie to be his friend. She refused but she made him a deal – as long as he continued to try and be a better person she wouldn’t hate him. To his credit, he accepted that.
I was almost expecting a scene where Todd shows up at the school, angrily saying “I’m here to deal with a little thief”. (Mirroring Heather’s mom after the shirt incident, back in episode 184.)
I almost did have Todd show up to he office, but I decided it didn’t make much sense for him to leave work halfway through the day for an incident on this scale. He’ll have… plenty of opportunities for on-screen riot-act reading none-the-less. 😉
A number of sea-creatures that can change colour do this. It’s not surprising that many squid and octopodes do this, being related and all that, but so do a fair number of fish! (Curiously, so do many chameleons!)
So I can believe that Selkie turns white when frightened! (But her clothes? WOW, that’s a significant demonstration of the Power Of fear!)
Yes, I Agree, to exude so many chemicals from one’s skin that the dye-stuffs in the cloth were obliterated,… Well! That’s just scary. I mean, c’mon, skin that can make a cat sick, no big deal, I can do that by not showering for a week. But bleaching cloth? Maybe Dave should change the name of the comic to Bleach? Nah, …(I think its already been done).
I don’t know if the white thing has been done before, but it doesn’t matter. Dave has used it wonderfully to great effect. Congratulations on your professionalism, Dave!
See, if I ever had kids and one of them did this, I think I’d go right past being loud and shouting and hit the state known as Tranquil Fury. Simply because I’d need to plan long, hard, and calmly about what punishment I’d need to dole out to make sure they never even THINK about pulling this kind of stunt again.
Forget “Fear of God”, I’d need to do something that instills “Fear of DAD” into their butt.
I should also add that I would be informing said child of this to add in the dread of waiting to the punishment.
Yup, I’d flat out tell them that I will be thinking calmly and carefully about what punishment to dole out, words NO KID wants to hear.

I’m guessing the talk with her father was less than ideal from Selkie’s point of view.
I wonder how she’ll get out of this one? I still wanna know if Truck got expelled.
He explicitly didn’t.

Selkie seems like just a ghost of herself. Is this what happens when you scare the chittlings out of a Sarnothi?

…this reminds me of the old rpg Teenagers from Outer Space.
Being sent to the principal’s office is a traumatic experience that no one can clearly recall.

Oh, good, someone got through to Selkie. This is a much needed moment for her.

Reminds me of my dad…
