Delay

Ran into some technical snags, and will need to finish today’s comic tomorrow. Sorry for the delay, folks.
(Save often. Don’t be like me.)
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
Open your application.
Save the blank file before you start work, with name your file something useful. Save it to a folder– be sure you know where you saved it. Be aware of where you put it! Do not allow a default without being aware of where that is.
Start your project, save after you make a big change.
If you know how, turn on “Save Automatically”.
This is not directed at Dave, this is just how I learned to stop losing 8 hours of work, due to a voltage spike, or to a brown-out.
Yep, that’s would be how I taught myself too, after too many horrific project deletions!
Dunno about image projects, but for text, Notepad++ has a temporary auto-save built-in, and when you open it, it pulls up whatever you had opened when you closed it (every tab you have opened). It’s just a text file, so you’ll have to copy it to a different program for formatting before publishing, but while you’re hammering out the story/paper, it’s great!
Also, it was made for programmers, but if you’re a writer/speaker, you can set the default language to plain text.
I want to remember this. Next time I lose work when lack-of-saving collides with a brownout, I can just tell my boss I “ran into a technical snag.”
Thanks for the laugh, and please know: I’m not laughing AT you, I’ve done the same thing a few times myself.
Man even this comic gets delayed more than I do
I want to disagree with that, but I’m not sure I can
