Agree, maybe removing the arrow-thingy could give it a better effect. Of course, we do not think the whole comic has to be re-done for such a small problem, but this is brainfood for the future…
Not to imply that you were obnoxious here or anything! Just that it irritates me when people get bent out of shape about “anyways” or “towards” and the like.
“The only difference between toward and towards is the s. Both spellings are correct, and they mean the same thing: in the direction of. Toward is the preferred spelling in the United States and Canada. In other English-speaking countries, such as the United Kingdom and Australia, towards is the more common spelling.” If that helps clarify anything. Anyway is an adverb, and if you can immediately identify an adverb in a sentence, unlike me, you probably had more and/or better grammar lessons in school. I learned most of my grammar from taking foreign language classes, as the extent that we were taught in my area was adjectives, articles, nouns and verbs (past, present and future only, subjunctive and the like was from French class).
On a side note, I feel like language is there for communication, so as long as someone you don’t know clearly understands what you are trying to convey, it’s fine. Considering how much the English language has changed even from Shakespeare’s time period, including some grammar, I don’t know why we expect the rules to stay completely stagnant. Consistency is good, but most colloquialisms tend to come about because it is easier and faster to say (gonna instead of going to, y’all instead of all of you, etc), or convey something more culturally that might be lost in an articulate grammatically correct sentence. Y’all is an interesting case, as it fills in a spot for you plural (vs singular) that some languages have, but English doesn’t, or at least doesn’t anymore. There was more distinction when thee, thou, ye, etc. were around.
I don’t know if it was for me or just in general, but I know about the “toward” vs “towards” thing. I had to learn because I tend to say “towards” and this random person in school– not a teacher, just another student I regularly interacted with– would regularly attack me about it until I could defend it to them.
When comparing the third and fourth panels… have you done character sheets for Selkie? ‘cuz her nose is so far down on the profile compared to in the 3/4. It might be useful to do some full turnaround pics just to her a more solid view of the ratios.
Of course, I’m biased, because character sheets are one of my favorite forms of art and I used to collect them like crazy š and it’s not like I can draw consistent characters from one panel to the next in any case (there’s a reason I’m a writer first and only a hobbyist artist)
Last panel proof read and bubble..?
>
That word bubble looks like it’s pointing to Tehk, but the dialog is better suited for Selkie.

Same word bubble, the word want is missing the W
Also, third frame, I believe you’re missing an ‘I’ before ‘think’.
From that look on his face I think Tehk has realized he f-ed up.
Ah. He assumed she had more time then then she did, which like. How’d he know. It’s easy when you’re hurting- and like A Kid- to make assumptions.
Slug in the gut, Dave, right in the feels. Now Iām hurting for both of them.
Thek, you bit the wrong fish. Say yer sorry, now.
… and before that, she was a warrior.
Would Selkie really say “whatsever” and not “whatevers?” (Same as human kids say “anyways,” or at least they did when I was a teacher.)
Oh, god, I hope you weren’t obnoxious about the “anyways” thing.
