You don’t necessarily start out as a *great* dad. It takes the right attitude, practice, and patience. Kids don’t come with instructions, and you’ve gotta WANT it to BE it.
I am wondering if there is Echo-specific terms for the technology that might not have counterparts in English and that might lead Pohl to want to speak in Sarnothi about Echo stuff. It looks from Selkie’s plurals that they are still speaking in English.
Why is it I can see Pohl starting her with the Sarnothi equivalent of a basic electrical set – you get all these electrical components (resistors, capacitors, etc) and you figure out ways to put them together to Make Stuff™. I wonder if Selkie or other Echoes can figure out how to integrate human technology with Sarnothi technology to make Even Cooler Stuff™.
I don’t know if that’s possible, but my money is on Selkie & Amanda to try.
Still MWF, but been kind of developing a bad habit of finishing it by early afternoon lately. Bit of schedule creep, sorry if it’s becoming inconvenient.
It’s cool, I’m reading comics from all around the world, so different times of day isn’t unusual, just need to get used to this one being an afternoon/evening read instead of morning.
(The artist for Stand Still, Stay Silent lives in Finland, I think, one of the Nordic countries, and would post new episodes after midnight her time, which meant I could read them in the early evening here. Sometimes she’d work so hard on it, and collapse exhausted, and forget to post until after sunrise, so I’d read it with breakfast.)
Pohl’s doing a good job reminding Selkie to be patient without being condescending.
Pohl is good, that’s good with three Os and a capital letter.
Pohl’s Goood!
He’s gonna be a great Dad.
He already is a dad.

“Selkie you must learn patience..”
“Yeah yeahs, patience, how longs will that takes?”
Wait, so Ti Kwan Leep is a Sarnothi martial art?
Flipper to the Head! *SWISH THONK!*
He’s a Dr. He has patients, and patience, a double dipper. And a Dad to boot. He’s ticking all the boxes.
There in panel four. I see that he knows to do delicate precision work, you need to have your tongue sticking out the corner of your mouth.
I think Silke’s doing the same thing in three.
Then of course there’s Bob “The Magic of Oil Painting” Ross with his emphasis on making the important little noises….

I really want to see how they fashion the fix.
I know what’s wrong with it! Ain’t got no gas in it!
That little tic at the end? Like it was “over soldered” so to speak?

Are we now officially, unofficially shifted to a TThSa schedule, instead of MWF?
When I comes to fixing things, I’m a better mechanic than electrician, but I can follow along with the basic stuff.

Don’t let her touch it, don’t let her touch it!
