Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
Medical device per Dr. (Pohl) seems the easiest cover story if they aren’t covering up its appearance. But that’s just my 2 cents.
What’s the betting pool for when the barrette get’s messed with/falls off?
First recess. If not in the next minute, story timeline.
I’m taking bets:
who says Te Fahn takes the barret and we get to see his reaction to Amanda glowing green power?
My bet is Selkie steps in and explains that she and Amanda will suffer the Wrath of Eels if they explain any further.
Nah, I’m with Trunko. Dave definitely is setting this up for more drama.
Te Fahn is a girl. Tehk is the boy in their class
I’ll take that bet. It’s going to come out one way or another, and Te Fahn could be trusted to keep the secret. She might become actively terrified of Amanda and there might be an arc about why that is, but I think it’s more likely that she’s about to skip the first part and go directly to Finding Out. Let’s just hope that Amanda manages to not blow anything up before she can get the barrette back on.
Literally no one thought to cover the darn thing? Really?!
They were a smidge distracted by the unprecedented appearance of Echo powers in a human amd subsequent reawakening of Selkie’s true power.
That was days ago. They had time to go to visit the grandparents on the weekend. They had time to stick a ribbon over it.
They visited the grandparents straight out of the government facility. It’s been maybe two days AT MOST. They are also still coming to grips with the above. Their world just got turned upside-down. The adults are probably still in shock.
Dave, you’re awesome, but my god, the panel order on this one. Just Why?
What’s wrong with the panel order? Follow the top line of each panel, descending through the page, like always.
Sorry, I left out “left to right”
I agree, it was definitely a bit unclear.
Yeah, it’s visually clear what’s happening, but the dialogue is really hard to follow. Took me a couple tries to parse it, and I still felt like I was guessing.
Chronic problem with a full-height panel on the right side of a left-to-right comic. If there’s no dialogue in the big panel it works as an insert, but if you’re going to put dialogue there you should really use tails to connect it to the dialogue on the panel it follows so the reader knows to go there first.
Hahahaahah
Called it!
So…
Any predictions on what a “pakdaire” is and what it does? (I mean we know what the barrette does as a whole, but what does a pakdaire do in the barrette?)
I am loving Te Fahn’s interest in this.
Tehk is never very far from Te Fahn…. I can see him snatching it off, because he’s Tehk.
Nottiboi, that Tekh. Makes for good comedy, he do.
Meanwhile, Selkie and Amanda are far too young to bear the burden of the adult responsibilities laid on their shoulders.
Yeah, the adults are failing miserably and setting the girls up for failure too.
And the better options here would be…? Remember: There are good practical reasons for Echoes in general being Top Secret, and that goes double for Selkie and Amanda being Echoes being kept to as few people as possible. Good and necessary do not always align. It sucks that these kids are having to be the adults they aren’t, but they don’t really have much choice, given the number of people who would hurt/enslave them if they knew what the girls were.
Uh, they could have covered the barrette as Selkie’s original was. Speaking as a former teacher, sending a kid with a medical condition into school without telling the teachers is dangerous for everyone.
Especially when said issue can result in LASERS. Unless the adults in the building are aware and on board this can end only badly. Taking the girls out of school until things are better controlled would have been the sane thing to do.
Webcomic, drama, I get it, but id they just loaded them up for school with “don’t laser and don’t tell anyone have a nice day!”, that is negligent.
On the other hand I had a parent forget to tell me l, the school or the nurse that her son had begun having severe seizures over winter break
So i suppose stupidity by parents isn’t restricted to webcomics
If Amanda was thinking fast she’d have said ‘It’s supposed to be Tehk Repellent but I guess it isn’t working!”
We have a much more effective eel repellent here, it’s called “dry land”.
