At least they don’t have to worry about scorching his hair off?
(Tagging Tony here to make it easier for people to remind themselves who the heck he is)
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
How about a “strategic allied-coordinated strike”?
Also, who’s Tony? I do not remember…
The shaved-head kid in the orphanage who speaks French and likes to pick on other kids.
Oh, him.
I do not think laser eyes are allowed on him, yet.
However…Selkie still has her “smiling face” thing, no? And now Amanda can support her…
How about just melting his shoes? possibly while he’s in gym not wearing them
Even if they didn’t learn how to control the laser eyes better, it looks like they may have learned a lesson nonetheless. I’d still call that a win!
Setting bullies on fire using your power? I heard that before

I love that comic!
Not what I THOUGHT she was going to say after bringing up Scar, but fair enough.
We all know a “well maybe”.
Ah, good. She’s learning.
Now they just need to figure out that those lessons she was getting are about how not to laser when you don’t want to so that she can let her temper flare without accidentally a city.
“…accidentally a city”?
Do you mean ‘accidentally burn a city’; or more hopefully, ‘accidentally BUILD a city’? Wait, how would you even do that..? Please tell me you don’t mean ‘accidentally nuke a city’.
It’s internet slang for “make something disappear.” It has roots in someone forgetting to type a word in a sentence. Leading to the phrase “I accidentally a word” to mean “I forgot to put a word in this sentence.”
So to say “I accidentally a ___” is to imply you did something to make the subject disappear.
Well, for me, that internet slang just feels incomplete when read.
I was kinda hoping this would devolve into wild humorous speculation on how they could ‘accidentally BUILD a city’; but instead I learned something. It is always a good day when you learn something.
Thanks Martel!
They should practice more so that, when they get good enough, they can give Tony that tattoo he’s always wanted.
It’s probably safer than ritual scarification.
Smells better too. Burning human flesh is something I hope none of you ever get to smell. Waking Screaming from a sound sleep, smelling it in your dreams cause someone was cooking ham is no good for you. If it is yours you sort of get over it (your brain can handle your trauma sort of deadens it) but the pain is excruciating. If It’s not your’s but someone you know its much much worse. That shit you see over and over again in your sleep. Very much no bueno
I remember that from “Scanners Live In Vain.” Not sure of the author.
I’m concerned about Amanda’s quip after Selkie said they shouldn’t have done lasers… Amanda was the one who made the board, got the idea to burn it, and did so… with no urging or help from Selkie.
Somehow, here, it feels like Amanda is accusing or blaming Sel for the trouble they’re in right now. Probably mad at herself, but it feels at least borderline gaslightey.
The “powers that be”, really SHOULD involve Pohl with the girls’ official training… I was surprised to see he wasn’t in the meeting at headquarters, but instead Scar and (worst of all) Then. Unless Pohl is practicing Echo craft outside of their knowledge or against their advise, and hasn’t been given the (no pun intended) green-light to train Selkie thus far.
It seems he has at least SOME involvement with headquarters, because he was contacted specifically on Selkie’s behalf, early on in the comic… not just for her cold incident, but I believe when Selkie left her barrette and it activated, too.
