JESSIE: AAAAH! I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS!!
ANDI: Todd sent the girls away, no idea how long!
JESSIE: I'm sorry I'm sorry! I shouldn't have come over, but you had the place to yourself, and I, like, NEVER get to see you!
JESSIE: And now I'm going to die. Selkie ad Amanda will see me and they'll tell everyone at the school and I'll be homeless and DIE because those girls can NOT keep their traps shut!
JESSIE: ...With all due respect?
ANDI: Wow. I mean, accurate, but still... wow.

Always have an exit strategy
I feel like I’m missing a page between the last one and this one. How did she go from topless in Amanda’s room to dressed and freaking out?
You really think Dave’s gonna draw her getting her shirt on? This is a kid friendly comic. Pretty sure she’s been freaking out the entire time, just keeping it inside so Todd doesn’t find out.
Yeah like, I’ll justify the bare back for “situational awkwardness” and not showing anything that wouldn’t be visible in a swimsuit anyway, but I’m not gonna go full-frontal.
She’s pulling the shirt on.
panel 1 is her pulling the shirt on
So, yes, Jessie *does* know why it’s a bad idea to get involved with the mom of one of her students.
“Le coeur a ses raisons que la raison ne connait point,” I guess.
What does she mean homeless? Would the school really fire her for dating a student’s parent? I feel like that would be a serious overreach of their authority, she’s a grown adult.
Depends on how much like the “real-world” midwest Dave has made his universe. A same-sex relationship with a student’s parent could absolutely get someone fired in a lot of places in the real-world midwest. 🙁
Or, Jesse is just over-reacting. I hope that’s all it is.
Why add the word “Same-sex”? I don’t think she’d be any less in trouble with a student’s father either…
It really depends on where you are.
Adding “same sex” because there are still places where a hetero relationship with a child’s parent might be frowned upon but overlooked, where a same sex relationship would definitely not be, period.
Depends on the school board, their feelings about same sex relationships and how petty they are. Seeing the history of school boards for last few years, her worry is justified.
Two options, one Andi and Jessie can say that Jessie is there to discuss the girls shenanigans or two, Jessie, go hide under the bed!
Alright Jesse, you are young and wear your heart on your sleeve, but time to calm down. You live in the same building. Just walk out the door and walk calmly for a few seconds then book it to your apartment.
And do it now – before the girls return.
Less picturing your doom – more evading it.
FYI, typo in panel 3 (and the transcript): “ad” instead of “and”.
According to my roommate who used to be a substitute teacher, if Jessie is still a Student Teacher and she and Andi start dating officially, there’s not as much of a problem so long as they are two consenting adults. also the girls are in grade school. Wait a year and Todd and Mina can date. I am so excited!
Made a little error there; “Selkie ad Amanda”
1501 – was a great year for the grape harvest in France,… if I remember correctly. Still a huge milestone for the comic. So many changes, so much drama! Such a good comic.
Stay calm – and you can bluff any kid, … panic and they can smell your fear.
