Scaropolis, where their currency is the Scardollar, and each Scardollar will be worth 5 pounds sterling, for that is the exchange rate he’ll put in place once he’s kidnapped the queen of England!
I also get the feeling that this bit about “setting up remote access terminals” for the “power flow regulators” supplying power two three provinces, is going to be plot significant.
We know Selkie’s mon (Pol’kar? Pol-something? Dammit Dave, finish the Cast page. We need it as a reference tool!) (cough) that she is going to end up at this farm, and presumably any Echo can manipulate these remote access regulators as well as Scar can. There’s a political conflict brewing, and knocking out power to three predominantly Sar-Teri provinces would probably be at LEAST as effective a terrorist attack as flying a plane into a skyscraper.
Let’s not forget that in any situation and story, there’s multiple truths at play. Scar’s version is what he feels is true, from his perspective. But other people might see it differently. Maybe the refugees themselves saw it as slave labor or indentured servitude.
Plus we’re only at the beginning of the story. Scar’s intentions sound like they’re good now, but it’s entirely possible that he’s going to do a Face-Hell turn at some point. It’ll be really interesting to see how it plays out, and if Pohl will explain what he heard happened so we can get some comparison.
I think that’s Selkie’s mom in the corner of panel 2, she had freckled face markings IIRC. Makes me wonder, when Selkie’s marks come in, which parent she’ll take after–unless those white bars on Scar are tattoos, not natural markings.
I’m actually curious to doodle some concepts on that out, just for funsies / maybe reference later. Past drawings of Adult Selkie have been based on her mother alone, because I didn’t have a design of her biological father beyond some rough bullet points.
Ontario already has a Scarborough, aka, “Scarberia.” I hated living there. It’d take two hours by transit to get anywhere interesting/decent. I.e., downtown.
Scarronto? New Winscar? S’caramento, Prince Edward Scarsland? I think Scartopia might be good.
Or, how about: Echotopia Beta Prime. The Haven that is like Heaven! Come find Our Idyllic Pastoral Paradise! Come enjoy the Fun and Sun working gardening at a leisurely pace, watching the Kelp fields grow. Go hun…Go Fish … Hunt fish in the lake weeds.
Fleeing oppression/ repression/ persecution? Fleeing with just the clothes on your back? Come to Echotopia, we have New Clothes in abundance. Work in our tannery. Design your own clothes, make them to fit perfectly. Come meet our mascot, “Pants!!” at our petting zoo! **. There is plenty of work to do here, and lots/most of your friends and neighbors have fled into hiding here, too. Come be part of the fastest growing Sarnothi Sanctuary…(enclave, bolt-hole, hideout, refuge, expat-commune, camp, tschungel, what-evs) in Lake Superieur! Come work and play with us!
(You soon may have no choice)

Come to Echotopia Prime, where we’re working in the fields,
for our new overlord …
… Did I say, “Overlord?” I mean the Farmer.
Happy holidays, from Echotopia Prime.
Scarpathian Basin.

Nice Street Fighter reference! RIP Raul Julia!
Starting to sound like at least some of the “Farmer” reputation comes from propaganda.
I wouldnt be surprised after all he was taking in refugees
Any story that can be summed up in one headline is an incomplete one, at best.
Scarlington!

Let’s see how well my prediction bears out. ^_^
Selkie’s birth mother is named Plo Quar.
I was phonetically close!
I imagine those that did not like him would tell a slightly different story. About how he took the refugees and used them as slave labor.
…or about how he built a terrorist camp to shelter escaped rebels. it all depends on which side of the war you are
