I once met a webcomiker who shot himself in the foot by drawing each person, men and women, with a different style of earring. Each and every character, a different earring. His crimes of omission would have been legendary, but he only did about 12 pages of his comc and quit.
My heart goes out to Selkie. Been there, thought that. In the end Jimmy-Jack brought out his switchblade and I was forgotten. … Mind, he didn’t do it for me, but Folger was on about JJ’s sister,… No one got hurt, but it was anadventure.
Except she contradicts that by saying she wishes she could take credit for how bad Selkie feels…
Still… She *could* be taunting Selkie right now and *isn’t*… Hrrmmm…. Okay… Maybe she’s made a tiny bit of progress towards maturity. If only because she can’t figure out how to make Selkie feel worse and not get yelled at.
Considering her disposition toward her sister, she *is* being nice. Remember: They still more or less hate each other. Less than they used to, and with some somewhat grudging respect toward one-another, yes, but the hate is still there, and they’re kids. She could seriously be adding to the teasing. Past!Amanda would be doing that without hesitation. But Amanda is holding back because she feels that Selks is going through enough [poop emoji] as it is. She is *consciously* making the decision not to add to Selkie’s troubles. That, for Amanda, is nice. Rome was not built in a day, a week, or a month.
The grade school rumor mill is a strange place. I remember one year everyone was telling me that this girl, Shady, wanted to beat me up. I’d never even heard of her, so I was vastly confused. I asked, but nobody could tell me why. Maybe they had me confused with someone else? No, everyone was positive it was me. Eventually I decided to ignore it and nothing came of it.
About a year later I was hanging out after school waiting for my mom to pick me up and started randomly chatting with another girl. We introduced ourselves, and it was Shady! When I told her my name, she said, “Oh hey! You’re that girl every was saying I wanted to fight last year! I never did figure out why….” We ended up friends 🙂

Okay… Now Amanda’s behavior in the previous page makes sense. I knew it was too good to be true to think she was actually trying to be nice.
I’d say not kicking Selkie when she’s down counts as progress.
I want to agree…

Yup, Amanda’s a monster. So far only Truck is worse.

Klonk.

Ah, grade school. I only miss it sometimes with memories like these.
Okay, it’s confirmed: Sandy has two earrings. And she switched places with Wu since two pages ago.
Clearly she likes to keep everyone on their toes during lunch by constantly moving around to different seats at the table.
Isn’t Sandy the soccer kid? As I recall, she always wants to be outside and in motion. So her not sitting still is what I expect?
Nope, you’re mixing her up with Heather.
The comedic timing of that last line was so good, I actually snorted.
