On one hand sucks she won’t even hear her out, but “we are still friends i’m just angry” is pretty mature of her so… half a brownie point?
Tony’s the shaved-head who kid who causes trouble for the sake of causing trouble, right?
Yup, that’s him.
Right.
Tony, t’es un con.
Tony can go find a pier and swim to the bottom for this
To be fair, Te Fahn trusted George that Selkie wouldn’t do anything crazy, and unfortunately Selkie invalidated George’s word with her flower stunt. So yeah, she has every right to believe Tony at this point, because Selkie muddled the truth and Tony’s telling her a believable lie.
She lost her fear of echoes so quickly?
And nobody should listen to Tony.
If this is how well it is going with Te Fahn, I wonder how mad George is right now……
He’s prob still worried about what his “punishment” will be.
Maybe Selkie should wait until Te Fahn is calmer? It’d be easier to speak to her when she’s not angry. XD Obviously.
Buts this is parts of her cleverer plans to makes amends! Ands it’s clearly workings! Doctors Terrorhammer nevers fails!
Although, Doctors Terrorhammer mights wants to reconsiders this course of action…
It’s been a day, you’d think she’d be calm enough by now to at least LISTEN to her supposed friend.
Also Te Fahns complete personality change is a bit jarring. She’s gone from incredibly shy, passive, reserved and almost panicky to super aggressive. Just doesn’t feel natural to me even with the embarrassment factored in.
She doesn’t feel aggressive. Just annoyed. Also one day doesn’t always clear things up. Selkie may not have been the one to embarrass her on purpose. But Selkie is part of the reason.
So she’s still gonna need a little more time. Like dude, kids hold grudges like ya wouldn’t believe.
It’s been established that Tony knows what he’s doing, right?
We’re they adults, Selkie could go to HR and get him canned, the behavior just wouldn’t be tolerated.
Does anyone have a clue how Selkie can address the problem?
And don’t say ‘go to the adults’.
Go to Tony, get a handful of his neck, make her eyes glow, and tell Tony to tell Te Fahn the truth.
Sadly not much. I always find it ironic that people tell kids to accept behavior because “it’ll get you ready for the real world!” when in the real (adult) world that behavior gets HR involved…or the police.
I love the code-switching! Te Fahn’s use of Tensei serves to distance her from the English-speaking Selkie (thus, “I’m mad at you”), but also highlights her Sarnothi group membership (which is shared with Selkie–thus, “We’re still friends”). Brilliant! The only question is, why didn’t Selkie (who’s trying to make up) follow Te Fahn and switch to Tensei? Maybe she’s not as comfortable with the language.

While I wasn’t thinking in terms of code switching, I had similar questions about the language choices. My two children spoke another language (I can neither confirm nor deny whether it was Tensei) until we adopted them at around the same age as Selkie’s birth-mother left her at the orphanage. They retain some fluency in their first language, and I’m fairly sure if they were addressed in that language they’d respond in it.
On the other hand, my children have had fairly regular opportunities to use their birth-language whereas Selkie has not until recently.
