Gotta say, I looove Jessie’s reaction here. she’s broadcasting to andi in a friendly way that while they may be different species she as a teacher won’t treat them any differently, and is also helping andi relax. Good job Jessie!

Man, these two play off each other in a sweet way. Would like to see more of them together.
I also like that Jessie was able to defuse the worries in much the same way that Todd did, back with his parents: “Can’t be all that different.” (“You are coming dangerously close to making your mother feel silly!”) And an appeal to the basic human nature that wants to find reasons to be good to other people, even if they’re different. (That you did so with a Dr. Seuss reference is a bonus.)

I think Andi’s also not that great at expressing herself. “Deal with” can be read as “what do we do about them”, and that would have an unfortunate undertone.”
I hope she actually means “how do we come to terms with this” which would be fair seeing people’s worldview just got shattered.
I adore the Dr Seuss reference, and how chill but not flippant Jessie is makes and gives me hope my son will have teachers and teacher’s assistants like her when he goes to school….
They should have Jessie be the liaison (or half of a human/Sarnothi team)… Too bad such a job would be a bit above a student teacher’s responsibilities.

Maybe I’m reading too much into Then’s expression in the last comic when she had to leave but I think he at least appreciates her line of questioning even if she can’t pronounce his name right. A Jessie/Then combination would be pretty awesome… Then for the snark and Jessie to smooth the edges. Maybe she could get the position anyhow, based on Then’s recommendation. 🙂
