This is the end of the Return to the Orphanage mini-arc. Hope you all had fun getting re-acquainted with Selkie’s various friends, enemies, and in-betweens. There are two more strips left before we start the next long Chapter story though; two reader-requested side character visitations. Before we start the next chapter, we’re gonna see how Jessie the shoe clerk is doing, then Todd’s siblings Antoine and Marta will get an official appearance.
I have also, by request, enabled Bookmarking to the site. Hopefully it will make archive binges easier.
I also have three new pieces of Fan Art to share! First is one from Days to Dawn:
GtaMythMaster43 sent an adult-ified Selkie sprite, including a blank template on which you can draw your own dresses and hairstyles:
And lastly, Miasaki666 sent a newly colored version of a previous fan art:
Thank you for the fan art everyone!
Happy ending? I can’t help but feel that these two will end up seperated. Maybe i’m just a pessimist. Anyway, I’m glad that things (sorta) worked out.
It doesn’t help they are two different races. It’s terrible it should even make a difference, but in reality it still does. Older kids have a very hard time getting adopted as it is. Poor dears. 🙁
Yea….I ain’t good at making kid sprites.
xD
For some reason, this page made me feel good inside. Maybe Amanda’s just rubbing off on me.
Oh those poor girls!! -bawls-
I hope they do get adopted by the same parents, that would be a miracle.
I’m
Whoops, sorry. I meant to say….
I’m kinda betting that they’ll both do what Heather did and forget about the promise when they’re getting adopted.
Agreed
me again and i made Selkie in the Champions online universe now and as soon as i get some decent pics i’ll toss them at you and if any body wishes i will also include the pieces used in the costume as well as the dimensions so they to can have a super heroic selkie.
P.S. i used the new “impulse” architype for mine. closest we got to a “water-wind” power.
P.P.S. as soon as i make a few new dresses based off the strip i well send it all. still debates wither or not to include a possible “older” selkie but i’ll leave that up to you fine people
Nifty, can’t wait!
Is there a bigger version of the Selkie Sprite?
Unfortunatley…no, making it larger is alot harder then it sounds.
🙁
I think there is sooo much going on in this comic. You say volumes about the deep bond of friendship and forming your own family group in this one, and how kids, especially young girls relate to each other. It’s very sad and sweet. I hope they DO get adopted together. A great story. 🙂
Thank you. ^^
I hope they all die in a fire.
Whoa, check it out. Selkie is big enough to attract trolls now. That’s how you know you’ve made it as a webcomic artist. ;D Congratulations!
I don’t THINK this is intended as a troll post, because I recognize Jarman as making a constructive comment on a previous comic.
That being said, I am curious who should be dying in fires…
Haha, sorry, yeah I can make troll comments from time to time, but I just don’t like that little pigtails girl. I wish someone would kick dirt in her face. That being said, I tend to have a black sense of humor and would cackle with delight if you had a story arch where the orphanage burned down to the ground.
P.S.
Still love the comic!
Do orphans ever get fostered in the States? As in, not living in the orphanage, but in families. Or is that just for kids who had to have been separated from their families for their own good – their parents being still alive, but unable to take care of them.
If I remember my google info correctly, foster care is more prevalent than orphanages in real-world America.
The problem is that foster care systems don’t work very well. People take in the kids hoping for the money and not realizing that what they wind up getting is only about twenty cents a week. A lot of times the foster care system will also have a slew of inane rules for possible parents to follow, none of which can prove that the possible parent will be good for or to the child.
