Just wants to talk.
Dialogue cut for brevity: T: I-I don't... wait, why aren't you... laughing and stuff? You were laughing yesterday. S: Nots recordings you nows. ... S: (scared face) Oh craps, I shouldn'ts have saids thats! T: I-It's okay... Can... can sit here?
I don’t believe it, his dad let him back in school didn’t he? It makes sick that this family can get away with so much!
Are you kidding? He’s clearly apologetic here and his dad probably had a very long talk with him and how he should make ammends. God why are the people here so hypocritical and double standardy. It really annoys me.
“Omg he’s not sorry kill him!”
“Omg he’s trying to apologize kill him!”
“Omg he exists kill him!”
I think it’s more of a surprise that it doesn’t appear that Truck’s being disciplined by the school. While I’m glad that Truck’s being apologetic, it does concern me though that the school is letting him back in after not only assaulting several students, but after trying to assault a teacher as well.
That’s not on the parents though. It seems like they DID give him a good talking to. But the school (meaning the principal) needs to step up and dole out some discipline as well. Especially since Selkie was suspended for a week for simply defending herself.
Honestly, we don’t know that he DIDN’T get punished somehow. The possibility still stands of a month long in-school suspension (believe it or not, that is a thing). I’m actually happy to see that the bully has learned a lesson and is willing to try to make amends. Growing up, I was always the foil to the bullies in my school, because I was as large as them, but my father always raised me to protect those smaller than me (Marines, go figure). More times than I feel comfortable counting, the bullies never learned their lesson, just started waiting till I wasn’t around to start picking on the smaller kids. The fact that Truck is at least willing to apologize makes me like this web comic all the more.
I wouldn´t be surprised, either, if this is part of his punishment – and if a teacher is standing off-panel somewhere, both as a witness and to intervene should Truck try to hurt Selkie.
in-school suspension is the worst…it’s basically prison lite. And if it’s a private school with dormitories…it’s just prison.
I didn’t realise school could be made more like prison! The HORROR!
My old junior high school was a re-purposed prison building. They shut the prison down when the town ended up needing to grow in that direction, many many years before I ever moved here. I only found out about it’s prior history when doing research on schools in the area.
Still doesn’t make add up to in-school suspension. I was a problem child for a while in grade school, and got ISS a couple of times. At least where I went to school, you had to eat lunch in whatever room you were serving time in. It seems like it would be pretty standard to do this.
Thank you for saying this.
And power outages are why I invested in an Uninterruptible Power Supply (basically a rechargable car battery you plug your computer into). Can search for them on Amazon, or your computer parts supplier of preference.
Well, power outages and the fact that my house is 200 years old and the wiring is a touch finicky…
Not that I’m happy to see Truck showing that he’s starting to learn the proper things from this whole fiasco, but I’m sorta bothered by how he’s in school the very next day.
At the very least…how is it so easy for him to confront Selkie again, even if it’s for the better it seems?
might not be easy…but never underestimate the power of a dissapointed and angry parent that you look up too! judging by the facial expressions this isn’t “easy” for him, but he does it anyways. I’d say what ever talk his father and quite possibly his mother had with him really hit home!
Yes. One of the school punishments that actually worked was in-school suspension. You had to sit in a small room in the administrative office area, do all of your assignments for the day, and not talk to anybody except the grown-ups who came to check your work. All of the boring parts of school and none of the fun parts.
Hang in there, Dave:)
A Ctrl-S appears! It’s super effective!
words Ctrl-S appear in mind*……..same hear…..
It’s funny selkie’s event with “truck” reminds me way to much of a girl in middle school that had that kind of family and was just beyond spoiled. Glad I grew a backbone then, or else I would of just been a victim.
*salutes your dedication to regular updates*
while glad Truck looks apologetic, I kind of understand that fear Selkie has goin on there. It actually hits really close to home honestly. I’ll spare details, but I bet her hearts racing and pounding, and she’s trying not to have a Panic attack, while alone with Truck.
That’s how I felt after facing someone who seriously hurt me, after a year of no contact after the incident. While waiting in the hall for lawyers to show up, so court could begin. So yeah, Hang in there Sel! Just face that fear, and when it’s all over (provided nothing bad happens) You can collapse in quiet relief, and have a character building moment with yourself.
Dave, good work on showing both facial expressions, even if it’s a partial.
I like how you can see both sides of the story here on their faces.
In a surprise turn of events, Truck & Selkie become friends and Truck mellows the heck out with everyone.
I was wondering if we were going to get a Trelkie ship going.
I don’t know about a ship, but I figure every Evil Genius needs a minion. 😉
I like the way you think.
I doubt it. Every time I felt the stirrings of friendship with a bully, the next day it was back to the way it was. (Very traumatizing.)

So maybe he can learn? Good, rather he not be a villain after all he is just a kid and we all have made mistakes. Don’t know if they will ever be friends but at least they can learn – both of them – to be decent with each other.
Let Truck see her like this. If he truly feels apologetic about his actions then seeing the after effects is a good thing. It will make him realize the consequences of his actions and how just because they don’t always affect you personally they affect someone and can be long term.
