My question is how long has he been away from sarnothi society and how did he have to leave there? It could be that he had to do unscrupulous things according to sarnothi society that wouldn’t be so bad in our society or vice versa. I don’t know how much of a culture difference there is.
Then is giving me Elim Garak from Deep Space 9 vibes. Like, he’s coded for villainy, but also weirdly trustworthy with a somewhat twisted sense of humor.

Reading between this page and the last one and I’m confused.
In todays comic, the first 2 panels, are Then and Avery reversed? Panel 1 “Acclimation isn’t a bad idea” should be Then right? He’s reacting to Avery’s idea. Panel 2 should be Avery “I’ll go over details in the meeting” as he wrote the recommendation idea
Just a little thing I noticed, if I’m right! Love the comic been following for years, gosh I can’t believe it’s so close to 2000 pages of Selkie!
I don’t want Then to be evil. I want him to be one of those guys who unfortunately comes off as always kind of malicious even if his intent isn’t to actually cause harm (though there is a LOT of wanting personal gain in all his motivations)

Gonna “um actually” your “um actually” there… 😉 The modern English alphabet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_alphabet) is one of several alphabets *based on* the Latin alphabet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_alphabet) but with slight variations. The Latin alphabet proper doesn’t contain W or distinguish between U/V or I/J like the English alphabet does. Meanwhile, if we were to use the Icelandic alphabet (which is also based on the Latin alphabet), we could easily talk about the difference between Ð and Þ sounds.
That being said, as Arachnid Archaeology pointed out, Then’s name actually *is* Þen and not Ðen, so I was wrong about that.

That is a great summation of Garak’s character and outlook.

I’m going to assume you meant the Latin Alphabet which is what we use for Modern English. The English alphabet was the Elder Futhark.
