Initial sketches had a mistake where Amanda was facing the front of the bus while giving the "eyes on you" gesture, which is all kinds of wrong compared to Panel 2.
You know, at this point I would be thrilled if Amanda told Andi there was no way she was going to accept adoption if Keisha wasn’t brought along.
I would like to see the fallout from that. And Amanda being loyal, even if it’s an unrealistic sort of standard.
Also, this is reminding me a bit of the book “Dear Enemy,” which is a collection of letters written by the gal who runs an orphanage to a guy she at first can’t stand (I think he was the doctor or something). The one story I can clearly recall is when a girl got brought back to the orphanage as a “thief” because she got taken to church (having never been before), saw someone had left a little communion cup on the chair, took it home as a doll cup, then got found out.
As the main character pointed out, any sensible parents would’ve explained the matter to her, sneakily returned the cup the next time they were in church, and gone out and bought her some actual doll stuff.
Have you read Daddy Long Legs? Prequel to Dear Enemy. Poor orphan girl gets scholarship to college, meets wonderful people, after college marries rich man (happy ending), and in the sequel (Dear Enemy) convinces one of her college girlfriends to “temporarily” take over the orphanage she was raised in. Also a collection of letters, written to the mysterious guy who is paying for her schooling, Daddy Long Legs. Both are excellent books. Jean Webster, if you don’t recall the author.
I think it’d be a trip if Andi ended up adopting both girls just so she could reunite with Amanda. I don’t know how realistic it’d be, but it’d be full of awesomesauce!
I think it´s far more likely that, given a chance to go back to her mother, Amanda will dump Keisha without a second thought – or a first thought, for that matter.
Aww, I love that idea! It would be nice to see Andi do something unselfish for a change, and having a real home, a mom, and a sister she’s already bonded to would make such a difference for Amanda. Plus, I like Keisha; she tries to do the right thing while staying loyal to her bratty friend. So she deserves a home too 🙂
The addition of Keisha to the Andi/Amanda situation promises more opportunities for friction than even the current setup. And more friction with Andi’s mom, too.
Plus, yeah, Keisha is pretty awesome and I want to see her have a good ending sooner rather than later or as an afterthought.
Considering my name is Amanda I relate to her too in the fact I WAS the one they talked about like this. I swear you stab one girl’s hand ONE time cause she is drawing on your work and suddenly your the ‘crazy’ one
There’s a family story my Mom likes to share where when she was little, she was stealing food off my aunts dinner plate. My aunt told her to stop or she’d stab her. Mom stole more food and took a fork to the hand. Stabby-stabby.
She cried to her father, and Grandpas reply was,”She WARNED you.”
Amanda seriously needs to see a shrink and maybe just maybe be given a small amount of medication. I don’t advocate stuffing medication down kids throats especially after being made to take 30+ (Paxall depakote seraquil and Wellbutrin) a day from ages 8-18 but her lashing out may be part of a larger issue such as depression.
Well, the jumping on her like a tiger thing for putting paint on her face is pretty justified.

I just reread the whole comic, and one line stood out at me: “Nobody would adopt three kids!”
If Andi adopts Amanda AND Keisha, and Amanda being Todd’s biological daughter makes her Selkie’s sister, that makes three kids total ^^

Ahh. That kid is kind of messed up. I predict anger in her family reunion…
“Mistakes were made”
Glad to know my friends and I weren’t the only ones who talked like this when we were younger XD

That sort of internal justification is the reason I ended up chasing my brother around the house with a tube of lipstick.
I am not sure it is good to encourage that as justification for any possible consequence. Though of course it can make for some hilarious situations.

Why would she want their skin? She’s got plenty of her own…
Trophy.
And winter…
Hey, Dave?
They’re back.

There was a time when having a female bully in a story was considered politically incorrect.
Nice job on the picture of the schoolbus in the snow! It looks great!
Skin is the new black.
