Start of a new arc today. Also, bannister sliding can lead to a broken coccyx, so do not imitate this.
-EDIT- Re-did the background in the last panel. Bit more perspective-y now.
Took me two and a half years to portray the month of August. Lets see how September fares.
Slight bit of artistic critique, the perspective on the banister feels a bit off. I think it needs to be tapered to a smaller point at the top of the stairs, because it looks like it’s horizontal and she’s just sitting on it. I do like that it’s a rather dynamic angle though, a good choice for that type of panel.
I second this. It’s not just the banister rail. If we are looking UP the banister, how come we can see DOWN at the stairs and the hallway? That last panel could be really dynamic if it wasn’t such a brain-twister.
I third this.
You know that feeling when you can not for the life of you fathom why you didn’t see something before it was pointed out to you?
I’ll fix this panel after work, thanks for calling it out to me.
Welcome to how I felt about the single panel strip of Velvy discovering Red… I feel yer pain, ser.
Ah yes, that is infinitely better. It communicates her speed and excitement!
And I’M excited to see what fun her and George have.
I should also note that the perspective is off in panels 2 & 4: The wall dividing the kitchen from the short hall to the door? We should not be able to see all three of its surfaces. At most we should only be able to see its end, and one of its sides if viewed from off dead-on.
yesh 2 am here its my burthday and its updated WOOT btw dave had fun on christmas playing with you it was great fun
Thanks. Happy Birthday!
thanks im 28 today and i still get to feel like an 8 year old when i read your comic. not to mention some of the other comics i have found. TTYL
In case there are more (not native English speaking) people like me, who do not know what a coccyx is or whether they have one, I looked it up:
Coccyx is the tailbone, but you do not need to have a tail for that one, it is just the bottom end of your spine.
I’ve spoken English since the day I was born, and didn’t even know what a coccyx is. Everyone just calls it a tailbone. Maybe Dave’s dad is a nurse or something.
Selkie ain’t human: Does she even have a coccyx?
I doubt it 😉
You rather listened to English speakers since your first day and started speaking English yourself a bit later.
And yes, I had a reason to put ‘not native English speaking’ in brackets.
Her hat and expression in the forth panel looks awesome and cute.
According to the myth: Selkies shed their ‘seal skin’ to become human on land.
Bannister sliding can also lead to bunched up pantie syndrome which can be quite painful! is that her on the t-shirt?
I think it’s supposed to be Kathryn or sue.
Oh thanks that clears things up
Oh, how I remember conversations like that in the first two panels. “Why can’t adults be more specific? Yeah, that’s my stuff on the stairs, but the stairs aren’t my room…” (grumble, whine, grumble)
The best parents are those who remember when they were kids and were on the receiving end of conversations like that.
ooh, is Selkie having a sleepover or something?
Just noticing this now: is that Selkie’s own face on her shirt??? 😕 I swear, that’s what it looks like.
And judging by how excited she is, I’d say that Georgie is coming over for the playdate she asked him to way back in the shirt-stealing incident.
I have broken my tailbone before and it SUCKED. You can’t sit OR stand/walk OR lie down without pain. It affects everything you do. EVERYTHING.
Yay for playdates! Let’s see what they do for fun :>
I’m currently dealing with a bruised (and quite possibly cracked) tailbone. All of this is true. The only reason I’m able to really function is due to painkillers. And even then, you touch it AT ALL and it hurts like a son of a mother. A couple of times I just barely tapped it scooting my chair forward, and it makes me cry out. And may the Gods help you if you bend down for something and whack it on something behind you…. personally, it makes me SCREAM and break down in tears for a good 5 minutes. And I’m a 22-year-old guy with a T3 buffer.
Yes… it truly does suck on about sixteen different levels.
Another great page artwork wise! I love number three and six the most. <3
That’s the rail. The bannister is the vertical bars that support the rail.
