Entirely self-serving, but within the parameters of the side he has chosen. Then is the type that once he’s convinced himself which side he belongs on, he will manipulate everyone and everything to get what he wants to have done. Since many of the things he wants he feels aligns with what is best for others, he has the power to drive himself to any ends.
Honestly I agree and this makes me relate with him more. He may still be self serving but I think Then is a realist and he is looking at what will be the most effective route to get the desired endpoint. Sometimes that is whats important.
That’s only true in movies or when people are doing it for self centered reasons. There a lot of things that happen in this world that would disgust you but we like the outcome and ignore it. Sometimes we shouldn’t ask how the sausages were made.
I expect that the sarnothi in this universe will end up colonizing all of our major rivers and freshwater lakes, which is actually good news because humans will have to stop dumping crap in them. But they’re not really adapted to our temperature ranges, their favored environment is hideously vulnerable to area-effect weapons, and there’s just not enough of them to conquer North America, let alone the planet. Also, they’re not, you know, a horrible species with vile habits. Integration is the smart play.
This can go either way.
Can never quite figure out how well-meaning or self-serving this sneaky man is.

I don’t really care what the situation is, you’d never get me to agree to such terms.

Historically, “the ends justify the means” rarely turns out well.

Absolutely not. We should always ask how it’s made. Ignorance isn’t an excuse.
I wonder if he intends true integration or simple invasion.

Era? Difficult term– I always associate it with a very long period of time, but not necessarily…
Do we know how long have the Sarnothi been here (this planet)?
I read that as “goats” instead of “goals” and was very confused.
