Ugh this page. Trying to put a stop to the late updates but this one had to be restarted from scratch partway through so… welp.
(Was going to do a scene at the meeting but decided it was dull and didn’t advance anything so deleted everything and moved to this one)
Also for the record, Then (the proper name) has a soft-th like “through” orĀ the th in “something”. He just likes to lean in to the adverb joke, as seen in the previous strip.
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
Good choice. The cutting room floor is underused these days.
You could have an out-takes reel!
“Cut the parts that people skip.” Not 100% reliable advice, but a good general principle.
I’m reminded of how I’ve had to coach people while filming them (my nephews, chiefly, though also some others) to step on each other’s lines. If the line ends before there’s a complete thought, it’s not because the person stopped talking, it’s because the other person interrupted them.
This is a difficult skill to grasp, apparently. But it also works for scenes: Sometimes you don’t want to completely develop a thought, just give a hint or a snapshot and move on to the payoff. And other times the payoff is better if you’ve developed the previous scene, but a lot of the time it’s good to just skip forward and not establish too much ahead of time.
Notably, my nephews will constantly talk over each other at any time UNLESS they’re filming a scene where they’re SUPPOSED to talk over each other.
Le sigh.
OK now, who is Then paying a visit to?
On a guess? Based on his internal monologue, I’m gonna say Scar.
