Oh, no, even worse than I imagined, fanfic and ship art! Run away!!!!
Now they need to make a plan, If Georgie can help Te Fahn become Selkie’s best BFF, foreve, Then selkie won’t use her lasers on them.
And then the adults won’t have to pass a Bill for a city bond to fund the new school. And Selkie won’t have to spend the years of her youth as a fugative on the lam, moving about the country in empty railroad cars, running from the FBI, hiding in abandoned warehouses trying to build her “Lair of Despicable Evilness” ™ before they find her. She’ll wear a jacket with machine embroidered patches with images of Blofeldt, Dr. no, Bambi & Thumper & Ms. Galore, OddJob, Jaws. Todd will teach her how to pick locks, and hot wire cars. She’ll become an Echo pickpocket.
As for Todd, he will take to hard drink, and grow a beard. He’ll only call his kin from disposable phones so they can’t be traced.. He’ll be on the lam with her and tear through his life’s savings in the first six months. The cops will want him for harboring a fugitive, aiding a spy, abetting a criminal Mastermind, (or mindermast as the boys in the stationhouse like to call them.) He’ll lose 25 pounds of wight and look 60 years old before he’s forty-two.
Oh man, I just remembered as an Echo, Selkie will have the equivalent of laser eyes if Pohl can help overcome the block on her abilities. I think Te Fahm may actually think she will go full Echo on her and that legitimately frightens her. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Considering she was forced out of her home by an actual evil tyrant who did, in fact, have a giant laser…. Like seriously, every time Selkie jokes evil shenanigans around her, I can only imagine she takes it seriously and not altogether well.
No, it is even worse than lasers. She is over in the corner drawing ship art and fan fiction of the two of them.
Poop, didn’t think about that. At some point she WILL have laser eyes.
Ye gods, I hope that takes a while, or they’re to have to build a new school.

Then she will meet up with her mother, and the two of them will travel the country trying to stay a few steps ahead of their pursuers.
Te Fahn seems to have a realistic view of Selkie’s abilities.
It’s funny:
Selkie comments about taking over the world: laughed off.
Selkie tries to play matchmaker: Run!

And I don’t think Te Fahn even knows Selkie’s powers are stunted.

and the most devious part of Tony’s actions: He didn’t lie. he just let their imaginations run wild by telling the truth.
