Thought I’d take a moment to establish something in a proper comic that’s only been clarified outside of it previously: Te Fahn and her family (and this also applies to Tehk and the other kids newly introduced at the school) are not part of the recent refugees.
They are the “guppies” Agent Brown mentioned in the past: kids being taught enough basic language and social customs to help smoothly integrate into human society. Their deployment into the school system was sped up a bit by the refugee crisis, but they were living on the surface for a short time prior to it.
Jackets in Selkieverse can just apparate and disapparate out of thin air. It's an inherent power of all people in the setting, and not at all caused by me forgetting to draw Te Fahn's mother in a jacket last time.
I honestly thought she needed Te Fahn’s help to buy groceries.
Jackets, eh? I wish I had that apparat-us available to me growing up. I’d have stayed warmer.
“Little Eel”, heehee! I love the interaction here, and seeing Te Fahn coming out of her shell.
If its a little eel shouldn’t it be come out of her crevice, where she is safe and can ambush prey at her leisure?
Or at least loudly shout “PANTS!” before biting?
Haha! Now I’m picturing a bunch of little kids chasing each other around yelling “PAAAANTS!” at each other.
If you had not mentioned it, I would have assumed that she had left it in the hall. Politeness requires that you do not take a wet snow-covered garment into someone’s living quarters.
And, she had not been here long enough to learn that that was a very good way to have some lowlifes come steal your coat.
Sassing one’s parents is apparently a universal constant.
Thanks for clearing that up, the timing made it confusing, but I was also like “these kids seem pretty assimilated already”
hm, i wonder what kind of store they have, some produce that caters to their own kind…or do they share the money they make and help their brethren that way?
either way, due to the sheer amount of sarnothi refugees around now, it would make sense to see some businesses popping up that caters to their needs, like a specialised shoe shop for example, or restaurants offering dishes for their special dietary needs
