Sandy’s dialog in Panel 3 is a (slightly paraphrased) reference to one of my favorite Disney movies. Guess which one!
I almost made the plastic snake a copperhead. Changed my mind to a garter snake because it's too small for complex patterning.

Pfft, girls are lame!
Dragonslayer?
Hilarious, because that’s how my siblings and I were
MUST HAVE MORE OF SANDY CUTENESS O_O
It’s interesting comparing old sandy to new sandy. It shows a lot about how your artwork has improved. Well, either that or seeing her sitting down for once is just that weird.

Ha! This reminds me of my time in the child daycare center at my first college (well, back and forth college as I finished up some classes at that one and another). Except, of course, it was various piles of things depending on the day. Sometimes it was these multicolored cats, and those were armies. Sometimes it was also dinosaurs like that, and those were families living on an island (the large carpet). Those were good times, and the only thing that made me a little sad that I didn’t go with the teaching degree.
That’s not a flower silly, that’s a skunk!
-Bambi
That’s okay… you can call me ‘Flower’… if you want to…
-‘Flower’ the Skunk
You are awesome. You win all the internets.
“…while the little ones play on the floor with the dogs. We’ll have six or seven.” “Dogs?” “No! Strapping boys, like me!”
Yep! That’s the one!
Heheheh:) Loved that line!
Since when are plastic dinosaurs and sharks “dolls”?
And you’re headed for a divorce Sandy.
Speaking of which, “Sandra and Woo”? Really? lol
SO I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO CAUGHT THAT!!! Good to know!
ROFL! Me too! One of my faves for sure! Nice plug there Dave! 🙂
I’m surprized so many people are only just now getting the Sandra & Woo reference lol.
Oh, I got the reference immediately … I was only just then getting around to reading the comic! LOL
I love the new alt text, I read from my phone and its nice to see 🙂
Sandy and Wu… Sandra and Woo!
Sandy has a very definite view of the world. Shortstops are not in it.
Copperhead, huh? A diamondback would’ve worked better … LOL
Come to think of it … a cobra would’ve worked well and would be visible in the comic.
Man my internet has been giving me trouble for a few weeks its good to catch up on the old selkie, man i missed reading it
Now if that was Heather, they’d probably be a baseball team or a soccer team. She strikes me as the kind of kid who would skin her knees and not notice until someone else pointed it out. (I know someone who was still doing that in college. She was a very interesting person to have around.)
Well… They are more reasonable than my parents were. I thik I’m sad about that.
Off-topic…
I have a screensaver I love. It’s called Particle Fire, and among other things, it randomly pops messages up on the screen.
It just popped up the message, “I is a good computer, I is.” I immediately missed Selkie. Dave, you win.
Ha ha ha that’s awesome.
Even as female myself, I didn’t used to really play “girly” stuff… it would have been social suicide not to own one (small enough to hold with one hand) baby doll, a cheaper-than-Barbie type doll and at some point one or two (instead of twelve like a girl I knew) My Little Pony dolls.
I was more happy playing with Legos and plastic dinosaurs with my brothers and the other boys in the neighbourhood. Oh, and with small toy cars and toy soldiers outside (we had this heap of sand left over from some construction thing by adults, and we made huge secret base for all the soldiers and such).
Good old times, good old times.
*still has several plastic dinosaurs and some Lego constructions*
Me too! I got in trouble at school because I wanted to play with the dinosaur toys but the boys wouldn’t let me…so I stole 1 every day and hid them behind the barbies. They caught me by the 5th one but I had so much fun those 4 days!
My brother and I also played army men in the sand pile out back…until we unearthed 6 scorpions. Thus ended our sandplay forever. *sigh*
Fortunately I live far enough north that we don’t get any invertebrates more dangerous than common wasps. (Which can be plenty dangerous, but unless you’re allergic, you’re not likely to die from them.)
….Are you trying to say 12 My Little Ponies are a lot…?
*says the girl who had at least 25*
Honestly though, I realized what I was REALLY interested in as a kid was colors and color combination and coordination. And those ponies came in all sorts of colors! My other favorites were Legos and marbles for similar reasons. Barbies are boring! 😉
Well 2 were more than enough for me (I had a baby one with wings and an adult one with a unicorn horn), and the immediate neighbourhood kids (none of our parents were really, really rich) synched our gift wishes so that put together we had 12-15 different ones. It tickles me now that even the boys in the neighbourhood had one each.
ah i remember playing such games when i was a youngun…..amazing how girls controlled the guys even back then (because we always had to play the game the girl wanted……..always) but oh well it never really mattered because regardless it was all fun
Oh this sure brings back good memories. Only a young, imaginative boy to be able to make an armadillo plush and a elephant plush have macaws, anteaters,
snakes, dragons, among others. Don’t get me start with dinosaurs! most of the times my female friends were around, but sometimes not. Ah good times!
Dirt in the skirt.
And they weren’t allowed pants, pink or otherwise…
