Welcome to Dave’s Break-Cation week! I’ll be sharing fan art posts on the update days this week while I take a short break… vacation… break-cation!
First up is a sketch by Hillary! I’m always interested when people apply more realism to Selkie’s design. Thank you, Hillary!
Today's edition of the Secret Commentary is empty, because Dave failed to come up with something for it.
Its so good!
Man, realistic Selkie’s sharp teeth are really disturbing!
Actually there is a tribe that I have seen on TV (jungles documentary) somewhere that people do this to their teeth because they think makes them more beautiful.
I read in a book on Vampires (unfortunately this was in the 1970s so I’ve long since forgotten the title) that some very poor homeless people in late-17th-through-early-19th Century London would get their teeth filed to points so that they could more easily bite the heads off of rats and other small vermin. (They wouldn’t eat them whole, however; they’d cook them as a stew.)
Reminds me of the art style of Stephen Gammell.
Clearly this artist (Hillary) has an exceptional understanding of the importance of ‘structure’ that underlies the surface. The nose, e.g., the structure is there, but not over defined like ours, subtle instead, like a species that needs to close their nose water-tight. And the treatment of the hair, even better. Adorbs!
I am a little intimidated, I’ll be honest with you. She’s still our little destructive friend though, so I will get over it.
For a second, seeing the name “hillary” I thought someone had drawn Hillary Clinton as a Sarnothi, and was about to don the tinfoil hat 😛
Thtank you for finally taking a breakcation, Dave. You owed it to yourself.
Also, if that’s how Selkie would look in real life, I can understand why so many people are utterly terrified of her.
Still adorable to me, though!
School picture day results! I like it.
Very nice!
