He’s definitely not making any friends. I’m glad he isn’t the only sarnothi student, otherwise the human kids might come away with bad impressions of them as a whole.
Different people react to anxiety and discomfort in different ways. Some withdraw, some are super friendly, and some become obnoxious, especially kids who aren’t fully emotionally developed.
This was the confrontation I was most worried about. Amanda still has anger issues although she mostly handles them better these days, but if Tehk starts teasing her, all bets are off. Especially since he mocked her mercilessly for wanting to learn how to do what she’s capable of doing now.
Amanda has a bad temper, and Tehk loves to push people’s buttons.
I see this going a couple ways.
A: Teacher breaks up the argument and disciplines both parties before anything serious happens.
2: Amanda loses her temper, takes barrette off and goes hot
D: Tehk yoinks that barrette off and Amanda loses control
The yoinked barrette could add fuel to a theory that I’ve kicked around for a while: Selkie’s original suppressor having the (unintended?) side effect of diffusing Echo potential into those around her, particularly those whose brains are still pretty elastic — in other words, most of the other kids at the orphanage.
So, in that scenario, if Tehk yoinks the barrette and Amanda loses control, other kids from the orphanage that are close enough to “hear” Amanda’s power might get their own rude awakening of fire eyes. Not only is this going to make an utter mess of the requirements of secrecy, but this will also kick Amanda square in the morale as she finds out that her status as a human Echo is not quite as special as she had thought.
I don’t *think* that’s where Dave’s going with this ability of Amanda’s, but hoooooooo boy! If theory were true and IF Amanda is about to summon eye-lasers, which in turn sparks the ability in the other orphans/former orphans in the room … there’s going to be an entire rainforest of paperwork for the NDAs Agent Brown & Co. will have to send out.
Ok, starting new bet:
Will Amanda be able to keep her emotions on check, or Tehk will push her enough for some laser-beam?
Let us know your opinions…
Flaming eyes in 3…2…1…
You know, for being a fish out of water, he sure has a crappy attitude. You’d think he’d be a *little* more reserved.
Like he’s holding on to the resentment of not being able to touch the ceiling or someing.

Tehk is in trouble.
Hai Tehk
Hi-tech
I see what you did there.
Yeah, Hecht of a comment. Someone stole Thek’s breakfast kippers and now he wants his fisch-bach.
*briefly tries to figure out how many of these are Markiplier-related puns*
*realize I don’t have the time to focus on this* (sigh)

Tehk might also be the one to call BS on making a barrette being beyond selkie’s abilities
Big talk coming from a boy within Lazering distance.
Actually it was a Nu’nya
In fact, Tehk, they might make a career of it. Calling it a Nu’nya Business.
That wasn’t a joke about racial tensions, he looks to be very serious.

Oh, the CHAOS of all the kids from the orphanage unlocking laser eyes at once…I crave it…
