A variation on this dream sequence, featuring a dark and scary forest instead of a seashore, was going to be part of the doctor visit arc but I shelved it until later.
Worry not my friends, dreams are only supposed to make sense when they’re done and you wake up! …
It will be interesting to figure out what the truck means though. Is it a symbol or stand-in for the events that caused her mother to leave her at the orphanage? I could be stretching it a bit (well, a lot) but that’s my guess.
*reads the transcript* also, given that Selkie’s got a repeat/variation of this dream coming in the future, it’s likely that this dream has great emotional meaning and/or is a prophecy of some sort.
… sooo many things I wish I could call right now, but I need more evidence first XD
I would hazard that, whatever else it actually symbolizes, it takes the form of a Truck at least in part because of her recent encounter with…well, Truck. A great, huge, looming, loud and thoughtless monster which cannot be reasoned with. A virtually unstoppable power which does as it arbitrarily wills and can only be channeled indirectly, not controlled or fought.
Thus, the truck as a symbol of monstrous interference.
We’ll see if her subconscious remembers kicking him in the jibblies, or if it currently fears the consequences of having done so. Or, as likely as not, if this truck represents some other terror with similarly monstrous attributes welling up from her memories.
I don’t think she has a future dream coming. The transcript says he was going to have a variation in the “Doctor Visit” arc (which obviously never happened). I believe “shelved it until later” was, chronologically speaking, from the time of the “Doctor Visit” arc and thus “later” is now “now” ๐
I did not see that coming.
Well, that certainly wasn’t the leviathan I was expecting.
I’m really starting to miss the story ๐
Likewise. The previous dream was interesting because it provided a lot of psychological insight into Selkie, but this is just… meh.
calm down guys, it’s been like what, 3 pages? i’d rather wait and see where the author’s going with this before saying stuff like that.
I am thinking that it is a metaphor, or a memory turned into one.
And then it transforms into a robot.
Crumbs! How am I supposed to pan-fry that?!
Use motor oil instead of olive oil? ๐
Smoking. Definitely.
RUN!
I’m sure sense will come of this.
So who’s driving? Jim-Bob Bond?

Dreams don’t “mean” anything.
They’re just collages of recent memories accessed in a non-context-relevant order.
Nice job on the water! ๐
Its TRUCK from the playground. Interesting.
And the sea represents Selkieยดs natural environment. This dream clearly shows how Selkie feels Truck is invading her last places of refuge.
But then, maybe not.
… or it could be she fell asleep in the car and is waking up to a car crash in the snow. I hope that’s not the case! ๐
