Comic is up! Thanks for your understanding, early risers. 😀
My original intent was to have each individual cell be a different background color, but I didn't think it worked well. Wild background color shifts tend to be more of a memory/dreamscape/emotional reaction thing in Selkie strips, and non of this is imagined.
No worries. We’ll wait. Hope everything is okay!
Look, don’t hurt yourself for our sakes if there’s trouble…good luck with whatever, thanksfor what you’ve done, and we’ll see you when we see you…
I second that! 🙂
Plus, this is definetly a webcomic worth waiting for. 😉
Oh it’s nothing like that. There’s no emergency and nobody’s in trouble.
Well, we worry about you…and a three-a-week schedule does up the demands on one’s psyche…
Go, deal with your stuff, get some rest, and don’t worry about us – we can wait.
Seriously, take what time you need. We aren’t going anywhere. 😀
Don’t listen to them, I want my comic!;)
*Throws torches and pitchforks at Dondonesque* 😛
Do whatcha’ gotta’ do, Dave. It’s Wednesday somewhere.
…ow!
Honestly, if it’s up sometime while it’s still Wednesday somewhere in the world, it’s still on time. A bit late one way or the other isn’t going to kill anybody, and hardly worth making a deal about, particularly given your consistent update schedule.
Any readers whose nose gets put out of joint by a free comic being late don’t deserve that free comic. Take all the time you need.
Just letting us now it’s going to be late is great!
Ack! Know! Saw that the k hadn’t gotten typed right after I clicked “Post Comment”…
Just putting the note in the image was awesome. Sleep. Upload this one on Friday. This should be fun for you, not stressing! And lack of sleep is stressing!
My non-motherly side that pulled all nighters wants to whisper to you ‘go champ, go! Sleep is for the weak1’ But, NO ONE should listen to that voice in my head…
Don’t worry, my Wednesday has just started. You have loads of time 😉
Yes, what they all said already! We all love the comic and will be here when you get things straightened out. Take care of what you need to.
Hope all is well. We can wait. 🙂
Thank you everyone for all the support. It’s a very unexpected but pleasant surprise that there’s already over 15 comments just for well-wishing, before the strip is even up and running. 😀
Just want to assuage any worries, I’m not sick and nothing’s wrong. My sleep schedule’s just wonky and I fell for a nap at a bad time, plus other miscellaneous stuff arose prior to that which is again not a big deal or a problem, I would just rather not specify.
I work overnight shifts at my current job, so staying up until sunrise is what I do anyway. 😀
Well, I can certainly emphasize with *that*…I’ve been on the night shift since 2001, and lack of sleep is really starting to be a problem…
As do I. Done shift work myself a few times. When it’s a set shift it’s alright (even though I can’t sleep in the daytime, I make do). One job I had for three years, though, we rotated every two weeks. Then I became the ‘swing man’, rotated almost every week to cover the shift that would be busiest at that time of the month. So get the sleep you need, then you’ll do a comic you can be happy with. Make keeping us happy your priority will end up a fail.
I’ve gotten plenty of sleep, just not at a great time. XD
Amateur. . . I’ve been on the graveyard shift since ’85.
I’m jealous, I love the night shift, but my current job doesn’t have one. 🙁
Hope everything get’s sorted.
While we love to read your comic, we are also understanding that life happens and needs to be dealt with. Life always takes priority!
Please don’t make updating the comic a burden as the real fans will always be understanding of situations. 🙂 As for the rest, they aren’t worth giving the time of day to. 😛
Surprisingly addictive little comic, take your time to do the necessaries.
Consider retiring to dedicate to your art 😛
I would actually love it for Selkie to be the day job that pays my bills and all that. One day, maybe. 😀
Ooooo nooooo! Selkie is lucky shes home today…
Is anyone concerned about the cough? I’m starting to get worried on the Selkie end, a dramatic shift from Monday when I was worried what “the plan” was.
Also: the second-to-last panel looks like it came straight from a spy thriller. Good job.
Not only the cough but the fever-flush in her cheeks.
I’m a bit worried about that cough and so-on of Selkie’s. I hope it doesn’t turn into something bad.
Sooooo… a touch of foreshadowing, perhaps? The non-orphans (and Amanda) both have obviously got something evil brewing for revenge and Selkie seems to have something evil brewing between that fever/cough. 🙁
Which kid is going to end up sharing a hospital room with her?
Amanda? Way to assume things man.
What? You got it up late? I’m upset by this even though I never check it till 1pm US Eastern anyway! J/K 😛 (Seriously, I would’ve never known if I didn’t check the transcript and comments. I sleep 4ish am – noonish, and comics are how I wake up)
Yeah, that cough is definitely worrisome. Two things to worry about then, three if you count the Trunchbulls.
K’nex!
I still have a crate of that stuff…
Now Selkie’s cough worries me…
Agreed.
Do I sense an upcoming hospital visit? 😕
Did anyone notice when selkie was in shock she was really pale, and that she still sort of does?
I think it would be the GREATEST twist if Selkie died and this entire comic turned into a courtroom drama with Tank on trial.
I would read the shit out of that comic.
“I’m sorry, the little monster you want expelled can’t be here. She’s in the hospital on life support because of the cold she got when your little angel attacked her and caused her to become overly-chilled.”
Ooh! Yes, yes, YES!!!! (Except for the small part about Selkie having to be on life support. But the rest definitely has a ring of poetic justice and a nice little slam to it.)
It’s looking like a good thing that Selkie got suspended … for one thing, she’ll escape whatever happens to the other kids at recess … for another, if her cough gets worse, she’s a lot better off home with her grandparents than at that school!
I too worry about the cough….don’t let her get sick….
Oh, perhaps a visit to Dr. Fishman is in order for that cold? I bet he can offer some good advice for dealing with their species’ physiology. I’m sure there’s plenty Todd and Selkie haven’t discovered yet.
For now, I’m not too worried. After a life threatening attack, lingering after effects are normal. I’d be more worried if there was no lingering after effects.
Still, I suggest a doctor’s visit, not just a school nurse’s diagnosis. Make sure it’s just lingering effects like I feel for now, and not the worse aftershocks everyone else is worried about. It’s only reasonable.
That kid in the second to last panel will grow up to one day become a evil mastermind bent on taking over the world. Muwahahaha!
Selkie is starting to worry me with that cough.
Part of the problem of a no human kid. Normally trivial things need more attention and other things you would worry about might not be a big deal. Without a full briefing it is all trial and error. The big worry in the real world would be if she catches something common and it turns into something serious for those around her.
K’Nex for the win!
